G'Day All
I have seen mention of having several installations of FS-9 on your system so as to have one for each era you wish to fly in. Can someone give me the rundown on the best way to do this, or if it has been covered before, point me to where ?.
Thanks Trev. (vhbob)

Hi Trev, Here's the thread where we went into some detail about the differences between Golden Wings 3, Silver Wings (Lynn and Bill Lyons) and which was best suited for which era. The installation instructions that Bill wrote for the GW3 and SW packages are very detailed, so if you follow the step-by-step proceedures after picking which method applies to your needs, you'll get the idea of what's needed create as many as you like....provided we're talking FS9! ;D These packages have never been updated for FSX, although work continues over at The Old Hangar to update Bill's planes for FSX releases. ;D If you have any questions, any number of us here, or at the old hangar will be happy to help you with them. To the best of my knowledge, all the links on this page are still good: (Edit: The Old Hangar forum and download pages HAD changed since that thread was posted. I just updated both of those links in my original post.) calclassic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=902Here's another thread, more recent, that you might find helpful: calclassic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=screenies&action=display&thread=1767Yours,

create as many as you like....provided we're talking FS9! ;D Cheers Randy, Trev - AFAIK, FSX does not allow multiple installs at all. You need to buy another copy for each one. Both my FS9's take quite a while to load, because of all the aircraft and scenery files. I had been toying with the idea of something like the VOZ switcher, but now I have pretty well settled on a solid state HD for each one in the next Flying Machine - which would mean four in all, if I reserve one for FSX and the very nice UK and Oz scenery now available. For FS9, there would be VFR/Modern, Classic, and Flying Boat Era. I could sneak a lot of TOH stuff into the flying boat one. Only thing is, the full time job which makes the Toys-For-Granpa Fund so healthy doesn't leave a lot of free time for simming or development, to take advantage of that. ATB MikeW

I've been using multis for quite a while. Golden Age, Silver Wings 50's, Silver Wings 60's (early jets). and modern. The best things, scenery and traffic set only to that period-no turning off and on scenery. I even have a Golden Hawaii version. By having separate versions, it only needs to load scenery that you need, not all scenery (loads much faster).

Hi, I guess the most important thing to remember when making a "new" installation of FS9 is do NOT run it til you get the FS9.cfg file renamed to match the new installation (1.) and (2.) get the new language.dll in that will keep the flights you create in a separate folder from your other installations. Don't run the new install til you finish ALL the steps!

G'Day All
Thanks for all the ideas, prompt as usual. This will help when flying the propliners as it was "in the day" with appropriate scenery etc.
Thanks again Trev (vhbob)

Question. Where does the new language.dll come from?

Golden Wings comes with one. My Classic FS DLL file is available from that forum thread linked above. I can't remember if Silver Wings includes one, but it might.
Hope this helps,

Hi, The Silver Wings .dll is a seperate download, as it was done by someone else and was released later, but is available from The Old Hangar downloads page listed above. It will put the "my saved flights" and all the weather scenerios files in your new "Silver Wings Files" folder in My Documents. Yours,
