(Much of this was adapted from the ProBoards.com Rules)
Hello and thank you for being a member of the CalClassic Forum. We would all like to begin our experience here as fast as possible, however, as does any community, be it big or small, there are some rules each and every member has to follow.
The following is written for you and for your comfort while browsing here. Hopefully you decide to read all of it and in the future, when the time comes for you to post a message, you are ready to follow what this post has to offer so you have a nice time here as well as getting along with the other members.
Enjoy your visits.

# Section 1: General Rules
1. We must all abide by the ProBoards.com Terms of Service (TOS). Note the sections on OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT and PROHIBITED USES, which prohibits content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, mlm, pyramid schemes, or promoting any illegal activity. Failure of ANY member to follow these rules can result in immediate deletion of the forum by ProBoards with no warning or appeal!
2. PLEASE READ THIS: This is a strictly moderated forum. FREE SPEECH DOES NOT EXIST on this forum! Staff may lock or delete a post or thread at any time for any reason. If the reason is not obvious, send a personal message (PM) to The Administrator and ask why. Do not make threads about locked or deleted posts/threads. The most common reason to delete a post/thread is that members are unfairly criticizing other members, countries, peoples, FS creations, etc. The most common reason to lock or move a thread is that it is off topic.
3. This is a family rated forum - no coarse or vulgar language. No discussion of religion, politics, or other controversial topics (even in the slightest) is welcome in the Classic Discussion Forum, and will be moved to the Chat forum or be deleted upon the slightest complaint. You may post about such topics in the Chat forum, but it will be deleted if a complaint is received.
4. This is the CalClassic Forum, intended for discussion of the Classic Airliners from the 1930's to the 1980's. Other topics should be discussed in the Chat forum, and off topic threads will be moved there by the Moderators.
5. Participants may not use the forums to post or transmit commercial advertisements. Simple announcements are permissible.
6. Don't post misleading thread titles. Make the title of your thread relevant to your topic. Avoid titles like "I was thinking..."
7. Do not reply to obvious spam threads. Spam is considered any thread that lacks any point of discussion or is inappropriate to be discussed here. If the first post should never have been made, then replies to it are considered spam. No need to report them either; I will remove them soon.
8. Do not create new threads where the subject at hand is already being discussed. Post to that thread instead.
9. Do not post any material that may cause distress to others, this includes flashing images (triggers epilepsy), and 'Screamers' (images that suddenly change to a screaming face), or similar.
# Section 2: Copyright and source citing
Please refer to the ProBoards.com Terms of Service section on INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.
1. Due to copyright issues and general confusion it is now advised that quoting large sections of someone else's work, news etc is not permitted here without permission.
Please provide a link to the article and if need be a brief extract of that story.
2. Any thread that purports to be based on historical fact yet has no widely known information or has no credible sources may be locked or deleted at the Moderator's descretion.
Example of proper excerpting and citing:
Quote:
Square Enix today announced an official North American release date for Dragon Quest VIII
Playstation News
# Section 3: Images, Signatures and Advertising
1. This forum has a feature that allows you to upload files (including images) to the forum server. Please note that any files uploaded and displayed in this manner are subject to removal, once our limited space is filled. I will delete images and files starting with the oldest first, WITHOUT WARNING. So these images must be considered TEMPORARY, not "archival". If you see an image or file so uploaded that you want to keep, I suggest downloading it to your computer. NOTE: I will assume that uploading images and files to the forum server includes your permission for others to download it.
2. Many images are not hosted here and are provided as a web address by the poster. This allows you to control how long the image will be on the web, etc. You can upload your image to your own web space, or use a free photo hosting site like photobucket, etc. Do a web search for many more.
3. Once you have the web address for your image, copy and paste it into your message. Then highlight the URL and press the button of a painting and one tag will appear at each end: {img} and {/img} (the brackets are square instead of curly). Now continue writing your message. Use the Preview button to make sure the image appears properly. Many sites like Photobucket have links available to copy and paste complete with IMG tags. If so, just paste it into your message directly.
4. Images should not be wider than 800 pixels in the Classic Discussion Forum, to avoid annoying members using lower screen resolutions. This restriction does not apply to the Screen Shot or the Chat forums. If your post is just screen shots, please post in the Screen Shot forum.
5. You should create a signature in your Profile area, rather than signing each post individually. Personal banners and signature areas (in the event of text) are limited to a size of width 500 and height 100. Please follow this size and consider those with a smaller screen resolution when adding an image to your signature.
6. Logical size of the signature should not exceed 100KB.
7. When signing your post, please don't do it as a link, you have plenty of space in your signature area and in your profile for links.
8. Avatar size should be kept at 100x100 pixels and be kept under 50KB in logical size. Custom Avatars are not stored here, see the "images not hosted here" section above for details.
9. There is a maximum text size of 4 in your signature area.
10. Out of consideration to those with epilepsy, flashing avatars and signatures are not allowed.
11. General advertising is not allowed anywhere on the forum.
12. Do not use banners that display IP's, while they seem to be a novelty, we don't know what the banner hosts do with the information they collect.
# Section 4: Polls
1. Polls must have at least 2 choices.
2. When making your poll, be sure your first post promotes discussion, and describes the pros and cons of each side (i.e. there should be good reasons for both).
3. The poll starter should post their choice and why.
4. Think carefully before posting the poll, do some research if needed (don't want to miss an option, etc.).
5. No Tournaments.
Any poll that does not follow the above guidelines will be locked or deleted.
# Section 5: Attitude towards other members and/or staff
1. Posts that belittle other members will not be tolerated.
2. If someone comes here and asks for help, please give them a sensible answer and point them in the right direction. Do not make fun of them because they are new. We were all new once and anyway we all might need help in the future.
3. If you cannot be civil when replying, please do not reply. This is a friendly community.
4. We do not appreciate members using derogatory terms that might offend anyone using this forum. This is an abuse free forum.
5. Please do not try to convert anyone to your way of thinking whether it be your internet browser/religion preference/political belief or any other kind of preference or choice. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and should not be made to change theirs because you don't agree with it. If someone does ask for help with anything relating to 'their opinion', then either help them in a friendly way or ignore the thread/post. Again, belittling people for these same beliefs will not be tolerated.
6. If you have bad things to say about a product, back that opinion up with facts. For example: "FSX has bad frame rates on my computer" is fine, while "FSX is crap" is not.
# Section 6: Staff impersonation and support
1. At no point in time will a staff member ask you for your password. Administrators of the CalClassic Forum have global access power and thus do not require your password to see/change your Profile, etc. If you cannot activate your account (etc.), PM the Administrator. The normal procedure in that case is to delete your account, let you re-register using a generic password, and then the Administrator activates your account. The user then changes the password to the one they desire.
2. On other forums there have been several attempts of people impersonating staff members, specifically over instant messaging software, such as AIM and MSN. CalClassic staff do not offer help through instant messaging software and as such, never ask for help over such a client. Please direct your questions to the Discussion forum, which is the only reliable source of help, or send a PM to or email the Administrator. Giving out details over an instant messaging program might infringe your security on this forum.
# Section 7: Warning levels
A warning level may be set if you violate these rules. If the level reaches the maximum, you may be banned. There are 2 levels of warnings per member position currently in effect.
1. New members who haven't yet found the rules would usually be reminded of where the rules are, and which one applies.
2. Members with 20+ posts, who should have found these rules already, may get a percentage on their warning bar.
The warning percentage is only visible to staff and the member. Other members cannot see your warning level, unless you have received a written warning for a bigger offense.
Do not post about your warning or your warning level. If you have a question about your warning, PM the Administrator.
