That’s what I have been up to in the last few months, in case you were wondering. It’s targeted for FSX using two 2048 texture sheets, but if I can manage it there’s going to be an FS9 version, as well. Why do one at all, you may well be (and I am frequently myself) wondering, with so many nice models around and some sensational stuff to come – Vertigo, Just Flight and possibly MAAM. Sentimental reasons I guess. I’ll post some more shots as I go along. Best, Manfred

I can tell you that a FS9 version will be appreciated. Very much. And not only by me.

Great news Manfred. I'll look forward to it as I do all your aircraft! Thought I'd put an idea out here for you after this one is done. We haven't had one of these since FS95!
Thanks again!

Looks very nice Manfred. You can never have too many C-47/DC-3's . I look forward to your version and all the payware ones that are in the pipeline. I think it's time to fire up ADE again and add more hangars to my virtual headquarters at the local field. Al

I hope you are also planning on doing a Basler turboprop version. I'd love to see floats and skis if you have a chance too! Thanks for considering!

Manfred, this looks like a great model as usual! I would love to see a DC-3 with various door configurations like pax doors on right side and left as well as cargo doors. Makes us repainters happy! ;D
The DC-3 and the 737 are a bit overdone in the Flightsim world, but a classic is a classic.
Congrats on what looks like another stellar job.

Thanks all, great to see that there's plenty of interest in the old lady.
I'll say more on repaint options later. Designing the sheets so that they can be used for both FS9 and FSX was quite a headache, I can tell you.
I'll do the base C-47 version as shown first, and then see whether other versions can follow from it.
The Super CD-3 and some window/door variants are actually contained in the "Awesome Foursome" package available from Flightsim (FSX only):
Name: as4sumje.zip Size: 53,388,198 Date: 06-05-2007 Downloads: 3,701 FSX Douglas DC-3 Awesome 4Some. A modification of the default DC-3 that includes four different models (DC-3 normal, DC-3 Viewmaster, DC-3 cargo, and LC-47). Remodel includes higher resolution textures, unmirrored tail texture and conditional appearance items. Paints included: NAC, NAC Freight, SPANZ, Fieldair, United Airlines and more. Requires default installation of DC3. By James Eden and Jon Murchison.
There is a Basler as well, at avsim, also FSX:
File Description: FSX Project Basler BT-67 AWI vers.2.0 include Service Pack 1. With Virtual Cockpit. New Animations include hidden Animations, Panel fixes, new Passenger interior. You find the Aircraft under 'FTBVA'.The Basler BT-67 from AWI comes in 5 Version >>> Clean - Radar - Weather - Skies - FTBVA. If you like to make a donation for my work just check my Homepage, I would be very grateful. Design by Fireeagle © 2009 By Dirk Stuck. Filename: basler_sp1.zip License: Freeware

In the year of her 75th Birthday, is is always good to read the C-47 / DC-3 gets another life. It is happening all over the world for real, and now also in FlightSim. And don't forget: The only replacement for a (MAAM) DC-3 is another DC-3!! ;D I'll be patiently waiting... Paul

One version that I know hasn't been done is the Cyclone powered version. There are some repaints out there for Cyclone powered variants, and I think it was Maarten who made an alternate FD to simulate a Cyclone powered DC-3, but of course all of these were done using Twin Wasp powered models. Perhaps you would consider doing one of those.
