Very, very nice, Manfred. I'm really looking forward to the release of this. I hope you release it in the same staged approach as the 1049. But however you decide, it will be warmly welcomed.
I notice a couple of things from the screenshot. The port engines appear to have flames where there's no exhaust. Is this because that effect has not yet been finalised? Also notice the air intakes on the tops of the cowlings are blanked over. Lastly, I know earlier Connies had astrodomes, but all the picture I've seen also show these to have windows above the cockpit - like eyebrows!! Were these windows peculiar to the civil Connies only? I know the 749A didn't have them, but have seen photoes of them on some 749's. I think the MATS Connie didn't have them too.
Like I said, I'm looking forward to this one. I'm also interested to see the differences in the cockpit when it is released.
Cheers, Mike

Hi,
From certain angles, flames coded as effects can "wander" and will not appear to be in the right place. That said, I don't know if these are in their final positions.
Eyebrow windows were eliminated sometime during L-749 production. I know that EAL 649's had them, while C&S L-649A's didn't. QANTAS L-749's had them, while KLM's didn't. I don't think any L-749A's had them.
Hope this helps,

The flames are definitely not in their final places yet since that can only be done once our team principal is happy with where things are in the 3D model....then the fun begins trying to tweak their position coordinates. But Tom is definitely correct that the flames unfortunately do move around a little on their own depending on "camera position" as you may have already noticed on the L-1049s.
As for the Eyebrow windows....that will depend on how they can be modeled and removed since they also would have to be included and removed from the VC. I think Manfred is still weighing the pro's and cons on those.

Thanks for the replies, Tom and Stefan. I haven't noticed much in the way of flames wandering about on my display. Parallax errors due to viewing angles for sure. It's more a question of an effect not being there from time to time. Usually, it's an issue with the starboard engines not always showing any flames. Having tweaked a few panel gauge positions with no panel editor, I think I can appreciate the task of positioning effects..
Sounds like one day, Lockheed just deleted the windows. I'm also fairly certain from all the pictures, that this had happened before 749A production started. But my interest was tweaked as I build aircraft models, so this detail caught my eye.
Whatever Manfred decides to do, one thing is for sure. And that is that this will be the best flightsim 749 ever. The need to work will really get in the way of some serious flightsiming ;D I don't remember in all the time I've been involved with FS that we will have had 049's, 749's, 1049 and Starliner of the same cutting edge standard at the one time. And that is really something great.
Cheers, Mike

No, I don't think we have ever had separate 049's and 749's before, other than via textures. The last time the 749's, 1049's and 1649's were all cutting edge was in FS98, as I remember. Thanks Dave.

That's an 049, which all had eyebrow windows. Nice views.
