Okay, so it's more about the plane than the startup, but you've gotta love this cranky R2800 startup. Pump up the volume, it's shot in HD video and sound, and is very nice sounding. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjaZ0XSEFWcAlso, note this aircraft, the only flying B-26K Counter Invader has a fully stock (and operational) interior and exterior. The internal and external bomb racks still work! www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRjn2ohNw6Q&feature=related

Wonder what the FAA thinks about fully functional ordnance racks?
Yes, I would like realistic start ups, complete with engines that are cranky and don't want to cooperate, just not the same engine every single time. A2A Simulations is getting much closer to such accuracy with their AccuSim packages, unfortunately AccuSim is limited to just three of their aircraft at this time, the Boeing B377, Republic P-47D (razorback), and Piper Super Cub and all three are FSX only.
The Sim Outhouse A-26 Invader (developed for FS9, can be ported into FSX) requires the use of the starter's energizer before engaging the starter. Same goes for the MAAM-Sim B-25J "Briefing Time".

Nice video...thanks. But.....it says..."Also, note this aircraft, the only flying B-26K".....I didn't see it 'fly' anywhere ! I have about 15 hours right seat time in a Corporate B-26. Couldn't tell you the Model. This was back in the mid-60s. Had to crawl on your hands and knees under the spar to get into the cockpit.

Man, that engine really did not like to start haha. Funny though that there are multiple movies claiming they have the only flying B-26K?

MAAM-SIM DC-3 also features starter/energizer and i believe thereĀ“s a panel mod for DC-6/DC-7 in AVSIM with this function.

Hi,
I've never seen an energizer mentioned in any of my DC-6/7 manuals.
Hope this helps,

1) The movies of the "only flying B-26K" are all of the same plane. 2) The aircraft flew to Fort Worth just a few weeks ago from its previous owner. The aircraft is still fully airworthy, they just finished stripping it of paint to start the work. Here's the thread on WIX including links to video of the plane flying - warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=341453) The FAA doesn't care about whether the racks are operational or not. In fact, the FAR's include language that states it's legal to "drop" (or release) objects from your aircraft as long as it's in a safe manner. The only people who'd be "interested" would be the ATF, and my understanding is that this issue has already been checked and verified as "OK". There are more than a few warbirds flying today which have fully operational racks on them. The only thing the ATF (and FAA) frown upon is having live guns (blanks are okay) and rockets, however there are ways to get them approved.

Would make for quite the interesting airplane to "drop" flower" bombs on target practice days As for the startup we tried a few things with the Connie's to get there such as a "failed" timer which basically lengthens the time before the engine coughs to life. The problem taking this any further is that it will then no longer allow engine starts via CTRL+E . Stefan

coenrad, the B-25 from rcs panels has a great sounding pair of engines especially at idle with all the popping sounds in the exhaust

This is a 1,000 hp Shvetsov ASh-62IR or PZL ASz-62IR (powers Antonov An-2 and Lisunov Li-2) engine. This time with an hand-cranked inertia starter. Same sound as on Mike W's An-2 video, but more sweat involved. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2ChXmMiXjY&feature=relatedAnd how about this lovely Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp CA3 recording? (R-2800 in military terms) Still my favorite engine type. The aircraft concerned is a 1st series Canadair CL-215 "Super Scooper". www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSpBw8vigrACheers, Maarten

I think that was from the movie "Always", which is worth watching just for the aircraft featured in the film.
