Hi Herman, I found mine over at avsim.su, a Russian flightsim site (and not linked in any way to avsim.com, btw). Installing it is a bit of a puzzle, as the base pack has been disassembled into several components: - The base pack itself is named "25499-TU-104-PUBLIC-VERSION.zip", and contains the Tu-104B model, one set of Aeroflot textures, and the necessary stuff (gauges, modules, sound files, etc). www.avsim.su/f/fs2004-originalnie-samoleti-40/legendarniy-layner-tu-104-v-0-91-25499.htmlHowever, you will need the following 6 extra files: - Tu104A.zip: contains the model for the Tu-104A;* www.avsim.su/f/fs2002-originalnie-samoleti-dlya-6/tu-104a-994.html- Tu104_tex60.zip : contains the early 1950s-1960s Aeroflot textures; www.avsim.su/f/empty-7/tu-104a-aeroflot-1950-1960-996.html- Tu104_tex70.zip: contains the 1970s Aeroflot textures for the Tu-104A; www.avsim.su/f/empty-7/tu-104a-aeroflot-1970-1980-997.html- Tu104_texCSA.zip : contains the 1960s-1970s CSA textures; www.avsim.su/f/empty-7/tu-104a-chsa-1960-1970-999.html- Tu104Sh.zip : contains the model for the Tu-104Sh trainer variant;* www.avsim.su/f/fs2002-originalnie-samoleti-dlya-6/tu-104sh-995.html- Tu104_texSh.zip: contains the textures for the Tu-104Sh trainer variant; www.avsim.su/f/empty-7/tu-104sh-998.html(* both model packages contain the complete cfg to make the whole package work) Personally, I also changed the panel on mine to that from another package (also from avsim.su), but right now I can't quite remember which package it was... <.<; I also found an alternative package with CSA textures which contained both the red 1960s - 1970s colours and the original blue colours used from 1957 into the early 1960s, but I can't quite remember where I picked that up again. ^^; To download, click on the right-most option in the green bar, and then click on either "HTTP (US)", "HTTP (EU)" or "Torrent" for the download itself. Hope this helps - I can also recommend you the "baby" Tu-124 from Samdim designs, which doesn't require all that hassle; you can simply find that here: samdimdesign.free.fr/

Thank you so much for all that information. It looks like there is quite a variety to choose from.
I do have a TU-104 model in FS, but it doesn't look as good as yours.
Thanks again okami.

Nice to see our HJG jetliners .... and classic jetliners in general .... getting some exposure here on Tom's "PROPELLER HEAD" forum .... thanks folks ! Anyway .... I thought I'd join in the fun here So .... here's 1 of my favourate classic Russian civil aircraft .... the grand old TU-114 .... The TU-114 was actually the largest civil aircraft in the world until advent of the DC8-63. Mark C HJG

Nice SS of the TU-114. It really was a remarkable airplane.
Welcome to the CalClassic site. It's my second home after HJG.

;DLooks alot like a civilian version of the old "Bear". Used to see a lot of them flying down the coastline of Japan back in the 50s and 60s.

Yep, Jesse, that's just what it was. Same wings and tail, and a new fuselage.

The TU-114 is a superb FS freeware product by SAMDIM DESIGNS.
It's available over at FS.COM.
There are several different liveries for it .... ranging from 3 variations of AEROFLOT (including the aircraft shared by AEROFLOT and JAPAN AIR LINES), and a RUSSIAN STATE TRANSPORT AUTHORITY aircrafy .... used be Comrade KRUSHEV during the late 1950's.
The package comes complete with both a panel and soundpack.
The panel instrumentation is in Cyrillic .... of course .... onbe needs to remember this "IS" indeed a Russian/Soviet-ski aircraft, but, if one locates ones mouse over most instruments then their names will be displayed in English.
The soundpack is "ADEQUATE" .... if not entirely authentic, but, I'd like to give it a tune-up .... one day in the future.
I do recomend this bird to all whom are interested !
About the TU-104's .... and the following in particular ....
I got all mine at FS.COM .... as I recall !

Given recent discussion here regarding the great Soviet-ski classics .... I couldn't resist the temptation to add a few more images of mine in action .... TU-104An interesting thing about the TU-104 is that the West .... never even knew of it's existence .... until one suddenly turned up at London during March 1956 (transporting General SEROV, head of the KGB). An old aviation photography colleague of mine (the late Colin BALLANTINE) actually witnessed and photographed it's arrival at London. This particular visit preceded 3 other TU-104's which also arrived at London during late April of 1956 .... and which transported the entire Soviet delegation to a UK hosted summit. TU-114I like these suckers .... a lot ! There's just something "MYSTICAL" about these .... and they're all just "SO DIFFERENT" and in a class of there own when compared with the great Western classics from the same era ! Much earlier in this thread someone also commented as follows .... A Canadian guy "WAS" actually building one of these for FS2004. It was first reported over on the CBFS forum .... which is where I learned about it. I became indirectly involved with this particular project, but, it seems to have stalled .... for whatever reason. I've not received any further word from the author in just on 2 years now. I knocked up a reasonable soundpack for it. I know the author was keen to offer his model, upon completion, with a custom panel, BUT, he did run into endless frustrations with a particular Canadian aircraft museum .... in getting access to the one and only AVRO JETLINER flightdeck in existence ! I got curious about these Ruskie planes and well i downloaded the Tu-114. I find her to be an interesting aircraft.
She handles quite good on the ground and she is easy to take off and land. She eats plenty of runway. I discovered i have to have a strip around the 10,000 ft range. But she is steady and actually floats down for such a large plane.
In the first flights I made, I discovered I had to treat her more like a bomber then a passenger plane. To get her to 30,000 I had to "climb the ladder" taking her to the desired height in steps. Also at that altitude to maintain any real speed i had to leave the throttles open. Even then it was hard to maintain her at 250 knots IAS. Also the aircraft has a tendency to drop slowly down in altitude in a level flight. you have to correct every once in a while.
As i said, I had to treat her like a bomber.

We had an interesting discussion regarding this aircraft .... both in its realworld and FS context .... over on the HJG forum a few months back.
At HJG we found that the weight aspect of this TU-114's FDE had been calculated quite a bit in excess of the aircrafts known capabilities .... but .... concluded this was probably desirable in order to give it that "heavy" feeling.
YEP .... that's the way most of these large older aircraft types .... like the TU-114 .... should be climbed .... particularly at high operating weights such as might apply considering these aircraft routinely flew Moscow/New York "direct" .... or .... Moscow/Havana "via Bermuda".
Apparently this sucker would typically cruise in the high 30 thousands altitude regime, but, folks have reported difficulties in being able to achieve that.
We had a look at the FDE .... but .... promptly put it aside once we saw how it had been compiled. It wouldn't be possible to easily recompile it without potentially buggering-up something else in the process.
Other than that this TU-114 a "NICE" aircraft package .... although one day I'd like to further improve the soundpack.
The TU-104 isn't without minor issues either.
There "IS" .... or .... "WAS" .... an AP/NAV problem associated with it and which, so far as I'm aware, hasn't ever been fixed.
As I recall .... the package is for FS2002, but, seems to run fine in FS2004 .... excluding the AP/NAP issue.
Apart from that .... it too .... is a "NICE" aircraft.

Hi, Though I'm still a propliner person, the 3 holer short body was my second ride in a jet, the first being a DC8-50 of Iberia when my parents sent me to boarding school in Spain in '63. My parents took us on vacation to San Juan before we moved to S Florida during the summer of '68, so this scheme has a place in my heart. Through the years, most of my jet rides were on the 727 with Eastern, National, and Northeast up and down the east coast. Trans Caribbean surely was a colorful airline and was bought out by American during 1971. Long gone, but always in the hearts for those who had the chance to fly with them. Frank
