On 18 April 2010, a gathering of 17 B-25s took place at Wright Field, Dayton, OH to commemorate the 18 April 1942 Jimmy Doolittle raid on Tokyo. I noticed that our Flight Sim B-25 from MAAM Briefing Time was also in the group. Enjoy the video. Four of the remaining raiders were present. The oldest, 94 and the youngest 88. WOW now thats a sight to behold! I grew up near KCAE, and still consider it to be my "Home Base". There have been many Doolittle Reunions in Columbia, but the flybys were only 1 or 2 at a time. The Mitchell is one of my favorite aircraft (this from a favorites list that numbers in the hundreds). "Panchito" owned by Mr. Larry Kelly with the DAV flight team was at the Corsairs over Connecticut (the 70th anniversary of the Corsair First flight) Airshow May 29-31st. They are some of the nicest folks in the world, if you ever see them at a show you'll be impressed. Did you notice the ol'2600's in that video seemed conspicuously quite on warmup? Not as single pop or snap from the wrights seems almost unsettling. Thanks Jesse! --Dan

Yes, I did miss all the noise and popping. I guess at the cost of my hearing over the years, it was worth it. I remeber the early models of the B-25 that had the individual stacks from each cylinder; before they decided to put them into a collector ring. Took away one of my favorite sounds. ;D

Pretty neat video.
Brought back a memory of about 16 years ago when a fellow, don't remember his name, came into my office and noticed the war bird photo's I had on the wall. One of them was of a B-25 that I had taken at the Madera, CA warbirds fly-in. We started talking and he told me he had been a backup pilot for the Tokyo raid. He didn't get to go as no one got sick or backed out at the last minute, but he was on the carrier that day when history was made.

Hi,
That one was flown and ridden by some of my friends - be sure to watch it in full screen mode (four arrows button).
Enjoy,

Very late reply to this thread but what an excellent video . I even live approximately 1 hr 45 mins from the Museum of The Air Force but due to previous committments could not make it over to see it . This is , with out a doubt , the greatest generation . I have a special place in my heart for them as my Dad was in WWll (USMC on Iwo Jima). I need to make it over to Reading , Pa someday and visit . The C47/R4D , B25 being my favorites . Tom , what an excellent site you have here . I,m going to quit being a lurker and be more of a participate . Very interesting people with some great stories and information(including AC and scenery) . My current FS9 is vintage Cal Classics .
Thanks , Rich
(Got to see the C-47 with D-Day colors at a little airport a few years back at an airshow . (KLHQ). It did a few low level passes down the runway . What an impressive site to see)

Hi,
I have just joined the forum so Hello,
What a great meeting and surperb video! its stange how things happen but an hour before i joined i was looking at some old photo's from 1958 sent to me from a pen pal i had in the US at that time and one was of a B25 taken at that Museum, the number on the tail is 02344, i'm 69 yrs old and i still love those old planes!
I really enjoy flying the MAAM B25,as near as i will ever get to the real one!
I live in the UK and we do still have our Warbirds flying here every year but it seems that the years are numbered mainly i think due to insurance prices which is a shame to put it mildly!!
Cheers,
Roger.
PS, Well i could not believe it, after all these years of having the photo of that B25 02344 it was the aircraft flown by Jimmy Doolittle, i must be getting old!! i have never thought of looking to find out about the plane!.
Roger.
