FH-227?

Hi, I know that the FH-227 has been asked about around here, so I wondered how easy it would be to modify the F-27 into that. Well, the answer is "not that hard", but it took me 6 hours to come to that conclusion, trying various things that didn't work, and then coming to the realization that there are already FH-227 textures out there that are made for Mike's F.27-500 model. So I simply stretched the fuselage the way Mike did (turns out his model is the correct length for an FH-227), and then mapped the resulting fuselage to match the textures already made for that model. The result is here: The textures are by Kevin Pryor with mods by Peter Mercy, as available at flightsim.com. I have used my wing and nacelle textures, since they look fine and are mine. The current problem is that my doors are in different places, so this livery only looks good with the doors closed. The passenger door is close but my cargo door is about 1/2 a door further forward than these textures display: I can release it without these Piedmont fuselage and tail textures (I don't have permission to release them and the doors do not fit anyway) if someone wants to paint up a texture set, based on Mike's -500 texture mapping. Let me know,

Hi again,
I've decided to upload the file so people can try it out. You will need to copy over the fuselage and tail textures from a downloaded FH-227 or F.27-500 livery. See the text file for details.

Let me know how it works for you,

Hi,
John sent me some more recent textures, and I've modified the passenger door mapping to better match the surrounding fuselage. Download link in post above.
Thanks,

BTW, while the version above fits existing textures, this forces me to use the same strategy as Mike did in stretching the fuselage - 3 ft ahead and 3 feet behind the wings (as Fokker did with the F.27-500). The real FH-227 was stretched 6 ft ahead of the wing. I do have a version of that one as well, but it uses normal F-27 texture mapping for the forward and aft fuselage, and a new small texture to texture the extra 6 feet (under the wings, since that's usually the easiest place to texture). It does require the windows in the textures to be respaced, though. Up to you folks what you really want (or both...).

Tom, I'd like for the "FH" to be like the "FH" with 6' ahead of the wing. Let the the Fokker be a Fokker, and the "FH" be a "FH." I'm guessing that the guy doing the Fokker mods will also do the '500 as well. Then, the flightsm community will have the whole package(s). If so, textures will just have to be modified accordingly. WE'd rather have the planes - the textures will just have to take care of themselves in due time !
Thanks for doing this ! Don't worry about the Piedmont textures either, I have done good one's with the proper "Piedmont Version" with 13 windows per side.
You've made a lot of folks very happy by doing this ! MANY THANKS !!

OK, I'll upload the "true" FH-227 model with plain white fuselage and tail textures so any repainters can use my 12 window spacing if they care to (it's not very accurate, though - feel free to do your own).
Thanks,

Hi all,
I've uploaded a version that includes both the "500" model (using existing f.27-500 textures) and the "227" model, which has the correct 6 foot fuselage stretch ahead of the wing. The 500 model needs downloaded fuselage and tail textures to be complete, and the 227 model is in a crude white paint job, waiting for proper textures.
See below for download link.
Hope this helps,

I've improved the models - the "box" on the vertical tail was not matched up with the tail texture.
Hope this helps,

OK, I've uploaded Beta 6. It not only has the improved prop spinners, but also has the enlarged exhaust stacks and the FSX compatible prop disks (hopefully).
Because of the latter there is a new prop disk texture (propdisk.bmp instead of propdisk_t.bmp) and you must add this new texture to any addon liveries.
Beta 7 download link below.
Hope this helps,

Hi all,
Beta 7 has been uploaded with the larger wheels as seen in the F-27A thread. You would need to replace the MDL files and the aircraft.cfg file's contact points (first three lines).
Download Beta 8 below.
Hope this helps,

Hi, You're welcome. I have made a tiny fix. When I enlarged the exhaust stacks I moved up the small air intake just above and in front of it, but forgot to match up the texturing to its new location. I have now fixed this. You will never notice this unless you put a stripe right through the intake when you repaint the nacelles, but you never know... Beta 9 available below. Thanks,

Okay, I'll make sure to update. I'm also currently trying to work out the scheme of the prototype FH-227 (c/n 502, N2227L)
