I am at a loss for a logical answer. My new computer, a Dell Inspiron 620 has loaded up FS9 with no problems. I only ran into a problem when I tried to install my 8th edition of MAAM-SIM DC-3. At no time does it show up in the simulator. I have tried multiple times to get it installed but no luck..I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and what was the solution?

Hello Jesse - The prime suspect would have to be UAC (User Access Control), a design feature of Win7 which will try to stop you doing what you want to do, on your own computer. Try right-clicking the MAAM installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator' from the menu that pops up. If your FS9 installed to Program Files(x86), UAC will prevent you making changes to it, because it is seen as a System file. I have FS9 and FSX installed, each in its own folder outside the Program Files area e.g. C:\FS9 and C:\FSX. This machine is also a Dell 620 running Win7. I am having a major battle getting it to remember the assignments for my CH yoke/quad/pedals, which I do in FSUIPC. I have registered copies for both my FS9 and my FSX. ATB MikeW

Actually I think the problem in this case may be in the MAAM installer, if FS is not located in the default location. My FS versions are installed the same way Mike describes and when it came time to install the MAAM birds I ran the installer and it simply made all the directories for a default installation. In other words I ended up with a C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\....etc etc all the way down to the aircraft folder where the B25 and DC3 were eventually found.
So I would suggest scanning your C drive for any such occurrence and if found simply copy all the files into their correct locations.

Could be, Stefan - I have v10. I ran the installer and it offered me the usual option to change the location. It is now installed, and seems OK. However I need to fix the assignment problem, and also sort a conflict which is making the views go haywire. Cheers MikeW

Mike and Stefan...thanks for the input on the MAAM SIM DC-3. I'll check into the setup and see if I can correct the problem. If not, It's back to WIN XP..
