Sears DC-3 N34113 at Midway Airport, Chicago, IL. This was the Sears fleet's primary DC-3, used domestically and for the flights to South America prior to the acquisition of the Convair 440. Unfortunately, after being sold by Sears, this aircraft crashed in Dallas on January 18, 1969, the result of fuel starvation on takeoff due to fuel mismanagement (fuel selector positioned between tanks). It's worth noting that Sears Aviation was accident-free from its establishment in 1946 until its closing in 2010. Attachments:

Re the previous post, I forgot to mention the unusual paint scheme, at least for Sears----the vertical stabilizer is solid fluorescent DayGlo orange, for collision avoidance, instead of the usual white and blue.

You're very welcome. I appreciate everyone's interest. I've got a few more photos to go so I'll keep on posting. I've also got a series of cartoons presented to my Dad by Sears personnel when he transferred from Los Angeles to Chicago to assume the job of chief pilot for Sears----they chronicle many of the flights of the "Pacific Coaster" Sears DC-3 during the years that my Dad was flying it----they're sort of primitive versions of the terrific artwork that some of the contributors to your forum provide. I've attached an example----apparently the decision to paint the bare metal top of the fuselage of the Pacific Coaster white was made during a flight over Bakersfield! Attachments:

Tales of the "Pacific Coaster" (Sears Roebuck West Coast DC-3 N49952) - (1946-1951) - No. 2 (See my 05/22/13 post). Apparently airborne Sears personnel were able to do a little California sight-seeing back in the days when Air Traffic Control wasn't quite so controlling. Attachments:
