Hi all If I remember correctly Jesse has talked a lot about C-97s etc. I don't recall being involved with one of those beasts (grew up and worked in Canada) but I do remember the Super Connies. One of my first jobs was on the ramp where my prime responsibility was loading bags but the odd time a lead hand would need a (young and expendible) volunteer to climb up the main gear oleo of of a running (mostly) Super Constellation once the hydraulics pumps had taken over and were more or less holding the gear in place. Usually I was the most expendible so up I'd go. Oil (and probably flame) would belch from the lower stack and cover me almost entirely -- seemed awful at the time but what I would give to do it again now. Take care all. Warren
