As part of the Algeria package I am working on, I also tried to reinstall some of the AI that was flying around there in 1960ish and to adjust some elements of the CalClassic AI. Here some screenshots: Aerotec, here their hangar at Algiers airport. They even had scheduled flights to Basel/Mulhouse (LFSB). Unfortunately I could not find any timetables of the era. The DC-3 livery is from me, the Broussard was kindly provided by Jaap (spraycan). I also created a livery for the Renault maintenance truck. 109 by brn1976, on Flickr 110 by brn1976, on Flickr

The other airline was SGAA (Société Générale d'Affrètement aérien). I used the nice DH Dragon Rapide from ACG and the Aero 145 from CalClassic to represent this airline. 104 by brn1976, on Flickr SGAA flew along the coast Eastbound serving the small airfields from Algiers all the way to Bône (today the city of Annaba). Unfortunately also here I could not find any timetables. Also I also created a Bristol 170 for the same company (an adjusted BKS livery does the job here). They were flying between France and the nuclear test site in the Sahara. 116 by brn1976, on Flickr

As the era was the height of the Algerian war of independance, I also had to take care of the military traffic. I took the AI-B17 from ACG and their PaintKit to recreate the B17 that the French Air Force used a s transports in the early 60s. Unfortunately only a B17G model was available (with "Chin"-turret), while the French planes had all their armament removed. 89 by brn1976, on Flickr

Here's one of the B17s that was used for mapping purposes. The original was also unarmed. 90 by brn1976, on Flickr

Another rather exotic plane among the French armed forces was this bird. Ju-52s (called Toucan in French) were used as transports all over Algeria during the war. The livery is my own, the model is from ACG. 99 by brn1976, on Flickr

The CalClassic civil and MATS traffic already includes the Breguet Deux-ponts/Sahara. I scheduled some additional traffic to make sure all my airfields are served. Here a civil and a military plane on the airfield of the nuclear test site at Reggane. 115 by brn1976, on Flickr

I also added two liveries for North American T-6s. They were used for combat and reckon flights extensively from virtually every airfield in the country. The planes are again from ACG. 96 by brn1976, on Flickr 97 by brn1976, on Flickr

Looks great and will really be a welcome addon to the existing and upcoming French sceneries. Thanks a lot, Sabi!

Last but not least (for today), I did some corrections on the existing calclassic AIrAlgérie liveries. The Caravelles had a post independant (post 1962) livery, while the Douglasses were wearing liveries used only until the late 1950s. Caravelles and DC-4 with the corrected liveries on the Algiers tarmac. 106 by brn1976, on Flickr A Dc-4 in front of the Bône terminal 101 by brn1976, on Flickr a dc-3 with corrected livery: 107 by brn1976, on Flickr

Hi Sabi,
If you would like to have any of your new or updated liveries for the planes that are in the the AI package (DC-3, DC-4, Aero 145, Rapide, B170) included in the main AI package (rather than you having the scenery users add them manually) just send them to me and I'll add them at the next update (or when you release your scenery, whichever comes first). Also, if you have flight plans for these, I could include those as well in the AI package.
Thanks,

WOW WOW WOW!!! This is going to be a very nice addition to Africa. I can s see flying a lot of logistics mission to and from Algeria. With all the new ai you have added and given all that was going on during this time period it will make for some interesting scenarios to fly.
Great work Sabi

Once I was working on the AI anyway, I also corrected the Tunis Air Caravelles. The livery used in the CalClassic AI looks nice, but I could not find any pictures of a Caravelle painted in that 1950s livery. Pictures I found were not older than 1962/63 and the planes already had the new 60s livery applied (probably since the delivery in the early 60s. 156 by brn1976, on Flickr
