I don't know if any of the forum members know retired Air India B-747 Captain Gurumurthy Balasubramanian but back in the early days of Flight Sim, he was a regular contributor on Flightsim.com. His sister posted on my Facebook page this morning that Captain Bala has passed away. He retired a few years ago and suffered a stroke. He was placed in charge of Air Inida's Flight Simulators. He will really be missed and was a good friend. He has visited me here in Texas several times along with his wife Usha, son Navin and daughter Rina. Son Navin is now a B-737 Captain for Air Oman and based in Muscat. Captain Bala retired from the Indian Air Force with the rank of Wing Commander.

Sad news indeed. All the best to his family, and he will be remembered well by the community.

Sorry to hear Captain Bala has passed. I remember reading many of his contributions in my early days of Flight Simming.

I remember Captain Bala very well. He and his family spent a weekend here with us in Roswell. They were delightful.
His wife wore a sari and her forehead dot for a trip to the Roswell Mall where cowboy boots and cowboy hats are the norm. She turned a lot of heads.
Bala and I stayed up almost all night after everyone else went to sleep and we swapped war stories about our flyng experiences and other things. I was privileged to know him and to meet his family. And that is how I will remember him.
