This is an interesting video to watch about how air Force One got its name and the first plane to bear that title. Hope you all enjoy this...especially you historians! www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=ehwvZXVKmPU

Now Boeing and the USAF are fighting over the replacement. Boeing says the 77L, USAF says the 748. Airbus initially offered the 380, but after the KC-X debacle they punched out.

Most likely it will be a B748, as it is much more impressive than a B77L. I can't imagine the Congress or the Air Force nor any President giving the consent for any non-U.S. built aircraft serving as Air Force One. The public would not stand for it one bit. Every single Airbus that I have ever been on had cheap, flimsy seats. Hopefully we will never see this: With the country as polarized and divided as it is right now, there is a hard core 25% of the population that would prefer to see the current President using an pre-leaped Electra as Air Force One.

Every single Airbus that I have ever been on had cheap, flimsy seats. I'm more of a Boeing fan than an Airbus one, however I have to say the comfiest flight I have ever experience was on board An ACA A340 EGLL into YVR, Plenty of legroom (I'm 601 and wide) and a real greaser of a landing. Worst for the sake of balance was a Transat L1011. She was such a creaky old lady.
