Hi Frank, Looks nice - thanks! The windows are transparent mostly due to the material setting, not the image's alpha channel. You can make them slightly darker by replacing the glass_t.bmp alpha channel with a pure white one (makes them more opaque). But this only goes so far. And the windows next to the pilot's/copilot's ear are modeled as open, with no glass. Might I update the WCA 66 textures on my page with these? I'd appreciate it. Thanks again,

I've installed the PSA F-27A base pack updated 9/3/14 into my 1960s iteration of FS9 - the path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSSW60. That basic installation worked fine. My problem is arising when I attempt to install F-27awBm.zip and the ten other repaints to this base pack. Just to make sure I'm understanding the instructions properly:
1-Are all the textures shown on the F-27A page at the website, under the base pack dated 9/3/14, meant to be installed to that base pack? Just making sure.
2-If you have several iterations of FS9 on your machine with a different title for each iteration, does the auto-installer not recognize that different title? I have used the browse button to the right of the default path to change the path to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSSW60. No additional texture appears in the F-27A PSA base pack which is in the sim.
I have gone so far as to install the F-27A into the FS9 installation on my C: drive, using the default path and hoping the auto-install program would see it and direct it properly. After running the auto-installer as directed the only texture in that file is still the basic PSA texture. I can not find the updated textures anywhere.

Hi,
Once you have installed the base pack, you needn't worry about installing additional textures directly to it. You should be browsing to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSSW60 for the installation of the additional textures. I may be wrong here, but it sounds like you might be trying to install the additional textures to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSSW60\F27A. The installer, once you direct it to your main Flight Simulator folder, will automatically find your F27A folder and install them there. If you are running multiple copies of FS9 and each has it's own main folder, then yes, you will need to install the base pack individually into each copy of FS. The only other problem that I can see possibly happening is that your download textures need to be unzipped as well before installing, but if you were able to unzip the base package and it installed OK, you should be able to do the same for the additional textures.
I don't know if this helps or not, but I've hit some brick walls in the day trying to install add ons, so I feel your pain! Let us know if you're able to install the textures. It's probable that if you're still having problems that there's someone else who has a better suggestion than I do!
It's worth the trouble once you get everything in place though. I'm thoroughly enjoying being able to fly all of the West Coast routes in the appropriate liveries with the VC!
Regards, Phil

Hi,
The installers search the registry for your FS2004 installation. If you have multiple installations, it will install into the one your registry points to. Use the ... button to install to other installations. ALL of my installers should be installed into the MAIN FS folder (of your choice, if you have multiple installations). That's the folder with FS9.exe in it. If you do that, it will install into the proper folders.
If you still don't see the new folder in the F-27A folder, then something else is wrong. Keep in mind that if you have installed FS into any Program Files folder using an OS later than XP, your OS may be blocking the installation. In this case, install into a temporary folder on your Desktop, and copy the folders and files manually. The best solution is to move FS out of any Program Files folder, BTW.
Hope this helps,

I've got two F-27A installations in my FSSW60 folder - "F-27A" and "Fairchild F-27A." "Fairchild F-27A" is an earlier release of the same aircraft. I have kept the folder names different to ensure any new downloads go to the correct folder. I just tried doing the install in precise accordance with instructions in Phil's note above (path is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSSW60" and nothing else. So far the new textures haven't shown up. Right now I'm doing a search of "C" drive to ascertain if the file "texture.connectair" shows up anywhere on that drive.
I'm also going to try installing the texture direct to a working folder on C: drive I use whenever possible to park something new in temporarily until I manually install it as I don't like a robot doing that for me.
EDIT: Downloading the texture to a temp folder didn't work, there isn't anything in the working folder. Search didn't find anything either.
There is the possibility that somehow the downloads themselves were corrupted. I am flushing them all and downloading into a specific folder on my desktop set aside for just these textures, and trying from there. Will report results.

I've tried flushing, re-downloading and re-installing but nothing seems to work.
I guess this is just one of those things that isn't meant to be.

I forgot to ask - when installation of the base pack is complete, and before any additional textures are added - what is the name of the aircraft folder I should be looking for, to ensure I at least have the base pack installed in FSSW60?

All is working fine, base pack and all add-on textures installed. Even changed the aircraft to auto-reload with accurate engine start. The problem was the anti-virus program thought I didn't know what I was doing and was not allowing the auto-installer to work properly. Solution - disable the anti-virus, perform all auto-installers, and grab the sick-sacks because we're off!
