Hi John,
thank you for your fine charts and pictures. Is there a chance to get some stuff from the Redstone Arsenal KHUA in the 50th to 60th?

Hi Bernie I'll have a look through my manuals over the weekend. I'm think I've seen charts for Redstone but unsure about the Cape Canaveral strip. Will do my best.

Thank you,
look what you can do, those military stuff might be difficult to find. I'm about doing a NASA related scenery set for FSX, period before 1962.
Edwards AFB is also top of my list, because they made a lot of changes, since Yeager's first subsonic flight.
Cheers Bernie

Hi Bernie Have uploaded what Redstone charts I could find in my manuals along with a selection of pics of the base over the years. Would make a nice simple scenery. Couldn't find anything on the Cape Canaveral skid strip. The three old manuals I do have which cover US military installations do not have anything on the skid strip, which sort of tells me that the manuals probably predate the strip. For Edwards AFB I have 1956 Muroc charts and 1968 Edwards charts. Let me know if you wants scans of them. Hope these are of some help to you. Link to the page: www.flickr.com/photos/12530375@N08/John

Hi John,
thanks so much, and the fantastic pictures as well!
About the Edwards AFB, yes please! If you could copy the 1956 and 1968 charts I would like to see the progress between.
Thanks again Bernie

Still on my high of finding out some Canadian airports are underway ... and then I discovered this thread ... and what? Classic period NASA airfields, you say??? Can it be true?? How awesome is that? I backdated my FS9 Goldenwings/Silverwings KEDW years ago, and since migrating to FSX, have yet to do the same. Backdated KEDW, KHUA fields would be just amazing. If also FSX-ready (out of the box), then even better, though no worries if they're FS9 and have to do some ADEX clean up. I likely can't add much to John's massive Jeppesen chart and photo archive, but having an extensive book collection of all things Edwards, and having visited a number of times (4 visits in the last 8 years), and flown it extensively in sim, any help I can bring is on the table. Once you peg what "year" of KEDW you're modeling, I'll find what images most closely apply. Like was said earlier, from the late 40s Muroc days to even the mid 60s, much changed there (to say nothing of the changes through to the present). I personally took pics of the main entrance to Dryden Flight Research Station building before entering it on my last visit ('2010), which is authentic to the 60s, and other images of pertinent facilities too - just ask. Obviously, you'll decide what you want to do - but I believe Juan did a phenomenal job with Texas inasmuch as he included a sprinkling of military fields in his Texas 1962 package. Obviously not exhaustive, but a few NASA and/or high profile military airfields of that period would be just superb. NAS Pensacola, NAS Jacksonville, Patrick AFB, and of course, KXMR would be splendid. To say nothing of the main subjects, the AL civvie airports themselves, which will round out the deep South most nicely. Can't wait - thanks gents! cheers, dl

Hi,
I got my inspiration for this project from the movie *The Right Stuff*.
Presently I'm in collecting data (pictures and airfield layouts) to estimate the amount of workload it will bring.
Since all NASA *roads* lead to the Cape and making it attractive to go there, the Cape Canaveral Air Force station scenery should be decorated with stuff regarding the Mercury (first choice) or Gemini (later option) project.
This will then *dictate* the time period around 1961/62, so infos of Edwards AFB about this time are highly desired.
A big question for me is still the Skid Strip KXMR, since I can't find precise pictures from the even few buildings there (control tower).
3D models of the launch pads and tracking stations I have already on hand.
Cheers Bernie

Hi to you all,
Edwards would be tremendous to have it backdated to the mid- and/or late 50ies. I checked the Flickr links but could not find any corresponding Charts - did I make a mistake?
Cheers and thank you a lot for your efforts.

3D models of the launch pads and tracking stations I have already on hand. Cheers Bernie You didn't just say you've got even a basic Mercury Launch Complex 14 and/or Gemini Launch Complex 19 to replace that kinda ugly stock Space Shuttle LC39 planned, did you? We're not talking like a NASA 1962, are, we? Say it ain't so ... 'cause that's just too cool to even begin hoping for ... Daniel
