I have loaded up the latest version of the Starliner in Acceleration, but whenever I choose the aircraft I get a "failure to initialize flight model" error. Is there an issue with the .air file when it comes to Acceleation? I understood that the Starliner was OK for FSX.
Colour me confused. Help!

Check if the sim= lines of the aircraft.cfg [fltsim] entries point to the correct .air file.

Check if the sim= lines of the aircraft.cfg [fltsim] entries point to the correct .air file. That was the issue. Still relatively new to FSX; in FS9 it wouldn't have even shown if the .air entry was wrong. Thanks for the help!

Sorry to step in, but that model does not integrate very well with FSX. There are a lot of problems with it. It needs a true FSX version. Try the L-749 instead, that adapts to FSX pretty well if you follow a few tips given with it and substitute the props.

Had a quick flight in it last night, and seemed to work fine. Only thing I need to do is change out the blurred prop textures so I don't lose them in the clouds.

Hi everyone, I just found out about the Starliner version 4 and wanted to give it a try in FSX, but I'm not even getting as far as the "failure to initialize....." message. FSX goes straight to it's error reporter and restarts. I triple checked the airfile name and it matches the only entry in the aircraft.cfg..., the 1 Lufthansa paint. For starters, just to make sure we're talking about the same package, I just downloaded the one currently available and linked to on Tom's L1469A Starliner download page... lockheed_l-1649a_4_0.zip Any other ideas as to what may be crashing this? Is there a file or gauge I need do disable in the panel.cfg, like the old supercharger gauge? Please let me know if you think of something. I don't know where to look from here. I have Starliner version 2.2 running just fine, but would like to see the new one. Yours,

I just tried it in FSX Acceleration as well. It crashed my sim on selecting the aircraft. I installed it plain, as instructed by the readme, with FSUIPC4 installed. The readme makes mention of modifying .cfg files to make it FSX compatible, but I didn't see anything in the documentation on what I need to change.

MrCapitalism, Yes, precisely. The alternate Aircraft.cfg files, for both simple and complex versions, along with the FSX propdisk replacements that were included in the FSX/FS9 version 2.2 of the L-1649 (filename: 1L1649A22.zip) weren't in version 4. I did notice that there were some references in the panel.cfg that mentioned 2 of the fuel dump gauge line entries were for FS9 ONLY. Anyone have any ideas here? In the mean time, I've been enjoy version 2.2 in FSX. It's good to hear that wonderful sound set again, too. ...especially after flying smaller turboprops for a while now. Any assistance would be appreciated with this. I'll put version 4 in FS9 and look at it over there. I just wish the Active Sky folks hadn't turned of the Weather server for my version of Active Sky. On a seperate note, I have a new processor coming for my computer, so I'm hoping to join the quadcore generation this week. Yours,
