I have had absolutely no success in opening these RAR files, particularly the initial Rio scenery needed. Would someone be kind enough to email the opened file to myself as I would love to have this backdated scenery.
My email address is jwhsatoptusnetdotcomdotau
Thanks John

I use the free version of 7-Zip to open RAR files.
1. Right click the RAR file and choose 7-Zip/Extract Files...
2. Click the ... button at the top right and browse to a temp folder.
3. Click OK.
The files should be located in your specified folder.
Hope this helps,

Hi Tom That 7-Zip is the problem. I can't get that to appear anywhere when I right click the RAR file.
I found a download site, but there are so many different downloads. Which one would be the correct one to download? Found it all pretty confusing to be quite honest.

John, would it work the other way around for you? Start 7-Zip from the start menu and then find the RAR files?

Did you install 7-Zip? Do you have a desktop icon for it? If not, then:
1. Go to Start/All Programs/7-Zip folder/7-Zip File Manager
2. Choose File/Open
3. Click the down arrow button at the far right, and choose the main drive.
4. In the large window below browse to the RAR file.
5. Double click the RAR file.
6. You should end up with a folder displayed called FS2004 - Wonderful_Rio
7. Click on it once to select it.
8. Click the Extract button along the top row.
9. Click the ... button at the top right and browse to a temp folder.
10. Click OK.
The files should be located in your specified folder.
Hope this helps,

Ok, thank you. Is there any link to galeao map circa 1960 ? Cheers. Galeão was only the 15-33 runway system and two aprons, each one on one side of 15 threshold. Right hand, the military apron, that has almost the same buildings, the same area and the same usage today (military transport units, today flying the Boeing 767 and the Lockheed Hercules, by the 60s you could see some DC-6 and other quads). Left hand, the civil apron, with the terminal and hangars. The vast majority of those buildins are still in use, but adapted to work as a cargo terminal. So if one could remove all the area inside the green circle (Terminal 1, Terminal 2, their aprons and taxiways, the entire RWY 10-33 system and VARIG (Now TAP) hangar), it`s almost a matter of AFCAD to simulate the old Galeão International Airport (SBGL). With Recife already made, all the African sceneries and Lisbon around, we could be ready to play with Panair do Brasil DC-8-33, DC-7C and Constellations from Brazil to Europe! Also we can play with VARIGs 707 to New York Idlewild and Real Constellations and DC-6 (why not dream with the Coronado) to Miami, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Please someone do something for a better SBGL experience!!! :-)

I`ve tried to work with SketchUp, but I`m not smart enought to understand how to finish the work. Read the tutorials many times, but still do not get it.
Other brazilian airports that can be "easily" backdated:
Florianópolis (SBFL) and Belo Horizonte Pampulha (SBBH) are almost the same thing since they opened.
São Paulo Congonhas (SBSP), removing those jet bridges and some hangars, is the same thing since the 30`s (there`s an old WorldScenery Congonhas that was made before the jetbridges).
Porto Alegre (SBPA), removing the main terminal, the old one is now called Terminal 2.
Natal (SBNT), just remove the main terminal, the structure is the same from WWII.
Fortaleza (SBFZ), remove all the terminal and apron, the old one is still there too.
Campinas Viracopos (SBKP), I have to reserach more, but I don`t think it was that different from the sceneries available for free (before the huge buildings they have made recently).
