Hi, After discovering the beautiful CV-240 and CV-340 (with big thanks to Ken Mitchell, Alan Jennings, Greg Pepper, Tom Gibson, and Steve Mathis) plus the updated CV-240 by VBF (Hans Hermann and Georg Hauzenberger), I tried to further improve the functionality of the VC a bit. This is what I did, using already installed (DC-6) gauges only: • Cylinder Head Temperature gauge now appears (filename reference was wrong) • Replaced fuel gauges that now work properly (this requires a minor change to the aircraft.cfg) • Removed autopilot from main panel, since it does not belong there (a proper one is already on the pedestal) • Added oil quantity gauges • Added carburetor temperature gauge • Added elevator trim gauge • Added avionics switch plus light on overhead panel (no need to go to 2D panel anymore) • Removed simicons • Moved main panel gauges upward and adjusted the corresponding light bmp I will upload a download link if Tom permits (of course with credit to the original authors). Below some screen shots, showing what to expect. Plus one image from the outside, just for the looks. Flying can be so beautiful, but my heart in is tears when thinking about the innocent victims of this recent airliner crash. Kind regards, Henri

Hi,
Sure, no problem. If you changed the fuel capacity the Notepads may no longer load the proper aircraft type, and will have to be selected manually.

Hi Tom,
Thanks. I will provide a link later today. Fuel capacity remained the same. I just changed the tank type to external, so that the newly used gauges recognize them. The orignal fuel gauges were taken from the Microsoft Baron, which meant that they had the wrong capacity. They inicated full until the amount of fuel dropped into the regime that the gauge could read.
Kind regards,
Henri

Henri,
Do you know if these mods will work in FSX/Accel? I downloaded and installed the modifications on my CV-340 this morning but I got a fatal error when launching my FSX. I'm still researching but so far have determined this is coming from the 340pnlKMCC. The first time I launched with the mods installed, I was prompted with a permission screen for a gauge (which I didn't write down) and then got the fatal error. Each launch since, I get the fatal error without a gauge prompt. Backing out the changes, everything launches normally. Any ideas of what might be happening?
Thanks for providing this wonderful modification.

Hi John,
For FSX do the following. Using notepad open the file pancel.cfg and in the section [Vcockpit02] simply remove the following lines:
gauge37=CC_Engine_Control!Engine_Control, 8,8,5,5 gauge38=cv340!ENGINE_AUTOSTART_2, 5,5,11,11
These gauges will apparently crash FSX immediately.
You could also remove the following lines in the same file (but this might not be needed):
gauge40=Z_DC6KMTG!CARB_ICING, 0,0,20,20 gauge41=Z_DC6KMTG!DEWPOINT, 0,0,20,20 gauge42=Z_DC6KMTG!ENG_FAILURE, 0,0,20,20 gauge43=Z_DC6KMTG!ENG_OIL_COLD, 0,0,20,20 gauge44=Z_DC6KMTG!ENG_POWER, 0,0,20,20
Let me know if this works.
Regards,
Henri

Addition.
As Tom states on the front page: Do not activate the supercharger gauge in FSX/Acceleration - they are not compatible with the new flight model. Therefore, remove the following line in the [Vcockpit01] section of the panel.cfg: gauge37=dsd_supercharger!supercharger_transparent, 94,248,20,20
I assume the modified panel now will work for you. I do not own FSX, so I cannot check it myself though.
Regards,
Henri

Henri:
I removed the supercharger_transparent gauge in Vcockpit01 and the Engine Control and Engine_Autostart from Vcockpit02. That solved the problems with the FSX fatal error and everything now launches fine. The notepad fuel autofill doesn't seem to work; however, I was having some intermittent problems with my CV-340 notepad prior to adding your conversion so that may not be related.
I manually set the elevator trim to 2.3 degrees for takeoff (same as CV-240) and seemed to work well.
Thanks again Henri for this marvelous update to the CV panel.

The autofill works OK with FSX SP2 (what I have on my computer); I don't know if it works with Acceleration.

Hi, I just added a few more graphical updates to the main panel of the CV-240/340 panel. Just graphics, no added functionality. The download link provided above contains the additional files needed. Explanation on what file to move where is in the txt and doc file. A panel.cfg for FSX is provided as well. Below two screen shots. I hope you like it. Best regards, Henri

Indeed. Plus some fake engine fluid handles above the central panel gauges.
