Shalom and greetings all my pals,
Presenting Buffalo Airways' flagship route from CYZF Yellowknife Airport located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada to CYHY Hay River/Merlyn Carter Airport located 1.5 nautical miles north of Hay River, Northwest Territories, Canada.
Starting engines in freezing -20 degree weather!!
Holding short of runway 15 spooling engines to get ready for take off
Airborne on climb to 10,000 ft entering Great Slave Lake
Still climbing
Now cruising at 10,000 ft for one hour flight
Crossing Great Slave Lake that is the deepest lake in North America at 2,014 ft and the tenth-largest lake in the world.
Best part of cruising or flying at 10,000 ft is that you get to fly through thick clouds!!!
Making turn to get ready to approach runway 14 which reveals gorgeous sunrise view
Adjusting, increasing, and decreasing engine power during final runway approach can produce awesome engine smokes!!
Darn snowstorm just rolled into!!
Seconds before touchdown
TOUCHDOWN and braking down spewing awesome runway snow dust blowing
Cool runway snow dust splattering began to reduce as the plane slowed down
Slowing to 10 kt to get ready to make left turn to exit from very icy runway into taxiway making sure not to slide across into snow ditch!!
Exiting from runway into taxiway while another Buffalo DC-4 plane enters into runway to taxi to beginning of runway 14 for backtracking for flight to Buffalo Airways' home base. Oh yes time is essence and on time cargo flight performance is important!!!!
Thank you for viewing. Stay tuned for next exciting flight.
Regards,
Aharon
