Hello,
Inspired by Bernie Bockheim's superb NASA Cape project, I'm going to take a crack at my first scenery project.
Wondering what the group may have by way of photos, charts/diagrams, etc. I've got some material, but there's not much showing the whole of the base in good enough resolution to show the buildings out by North Base all that well. Any material even during the pre-NASA period (pre-1958, so that would be NACA) would be great, since it'd be easier to add to some of the facility.
My intent is to use relevant Calclassic hangar, vehicle, and other related objects as are feasible to use - assuming that with proper credit, that won't be an issue? Project will be developed in FSX, but am happy to make my files available for anyone interested in decompiling/recompiling for FS9.
Look forward to any source content you may have, as well as feedback as I post updates.
Regards,
Daniel

Hi,
Anything in the Classic Libraries mega download can be used, no problem. Buildings located in other sceneries can normally be used with permission.

I have some 1960 Jeppesen charts etc for Edwards if they are of help. I'll scan them this evening when I'm back home and post them on my Flickr page.

Hello all,
Sorry for the long delay. Sickness and death has hit our family, so FS time has been spotty to non-existent.
I've regained my interest, though, and the first area of focus is re-starting this project. So to make life easier, I'd like to secure permission to solicit repainter help to adapt textures as required on SOH, if needed.
The project is intended for FSX, but when done, am happy to turn over to an FS9er to convert back as and if required.
Thanks in advance,
DL

I am very sorry for the reasons of your delay, Daniel. Surely, many of us here know what you mean (I do). Good luck and above all have fun on the reborn project!

I am very sorry for the reasons of your delay, Daniel. Surely, many of us here know what you mean (I do). Good luck and above all have fun on the reborn project! Erik Thanks Erik - very kind. This is tedious stage of research, assembling the right objects, getting permissions, etc. Sorry nothing to see for a few weeks, as I'm about to go on vacation. But the good news is, I'm working with one of our hobby's pro scenery devs who has kindly offered to do a couple of the hangars as custom for this scenery. There's also some great repainters involved, and I'm also awaiting oks from a few other folks who've produced good objects suitable for the project, and of course, some of the great Calclassic 50s and 60s objects will doubtlessly find their way in also, where appropriate. The plan is for a NACA 1955 Edwards AFB, complete with period AI, as well as a NASA 1965 Edwards AFB, with the expanded facilities, period AI, etc. The good news is I've finally resolved a layout query I had regarding the location of some of the hangars in the available pictures were physically located. Stitching together a number of period layouts and photos helped solve the mystery. JWH / John - thanks, your images were instrumental in that resolution. They'll be +/- 50' accurate, so that should be suit the scenery well enough. Bear in mind, it's my first serious attempt at scenery, but I hope it'll be passable. If anyone has any images or ideas for good objects, feel free to pass them along. Insofar as assembling building objects, I'd say the only "at risk" areas are the iconic buildings 4800/4801/4802 - the old (yet still present) aircraft assembly hangars and the main administration building. I've got a primary and secondary source for those, but not quite in the bag yet. Will advise once confirmed. See everyone in a couple of weeks ... dl

Hi Daniel,
yep, Edwards is a big target to deal with. I started several times, but still not satisfied with it.
Good luck and don't forget to check YOUTUBE.COM. There are some good videos about Edwards.
Cheers Bernie

Glad to see that your are feeling better now. I love flying out of Edwards in 50s and 60s era Air Force jets. I keep a permanent Edwards land class file in my FS9.
