Today I made my first real propliner flight. A half hour trip with Dutch Dakota Association's PH-PBA 'Prinses Amalia'. I've flown quite a lot in my life but somehow I didn't really fly until today

I agree, it took my first propliner flight as an adult to really bring home the "propliner experience" to me. That was a half hour trip on the Pacific Air Lines Martin 4-0-4 at Gillespie field in El Cajon (near my home in San Diego). What a rush! That trip was matched later by circling Denali (Mt. McKinley) in an ERA DC-3 - an amazing experience. But your first time is always special.
Congrats,

Flying in DC-3s in the UK was discontinued some years ago under EU safety ruling requiring oxygen, escape shutes and goodness knows what else. I wonder how the DDA get round that. For me, DC-3 flying is just a fond memory now. John

I don't know how DDA manages to adhere to those regulations. We were even allowed to visit the cockpit

I've never flown in a propliner, but does flying in a B-17 and B-25 count?

Sure. They have multiple piston engines so that qualifies in my book. Some were even used as airliners right after the war.

Woohoo! Flying with round engines really is a treat.

They have multiple piston engines so that qualifies in my book. Agreed, but there is nothing as graceful as taking off in a tail-dragger like the DC-3. John

John I remember one trip in a Delta Convair 440 at night during a severe thunderstorm where the plane was bouncing around so bad that people were holding on to the seatback in front of them and things were falling from the overhead shelf. The lightening and rain were awesome. It certainly wasn't graceful, but it was exciting!
