Installed the Lodestar today, along with the update that was on Flightsim.com. Added the sound package and the National textures. Looked forward to flying but on my first take off the plane left the ground on its own and immediately went about +4000 ft/min. Was barely able to bring it back to a normal climb of +/_ 800 ft/min or so using full forward stick and lots of down trim. Then the down trim was too much and it was all I could do to bring her back up. Finally got it trimmed to a climb attitude and flipped on the auto pilot to give myself a break. Again the nose went WAY up. Seems like something is waaayyy wrong. Tried setting lots of down trim before take off too but that had no effect on the sudden sharp liftoff and nose up attitude. Also seems that I can't figure out the operation of the autopilot at all, nor does it respond to the usual keyboard commands for AP, yet it appears to be the same as all others of its type.
Am I missing something ? Am I doing something very wrong ? Is anyone else having this issue ?

Mike

I had the same aircraft but did not install the update yet. There is a lodestar WIP that Shupe made available awhile ago, that particular model flys beautiful. Maybe you can robe the aircraft.cfg from that? Milton also has military versions of this aircraft. That said, I haven't had many problems at all. Allen

Mike, Make sure you have installed the new v1.2 lodestar.air file. I experienced the same behavior of a quick almost vertical takeoff, especially if you throttle up to fast. With the new air file the Lodestar behaves normally and handles much better.

Well, I did some experimenting w/ different versions and still had the problem. What I did discover though, was that on take-off, if you GRADUALLY apply power. the aircraft is much more manageable. Still can't get the AP to work though.

Forgot to mention that along w/ gradual throttle, I used NO flaps.

Hi,
Most tail draggers used no flaps on takeoff, AFAIK.

I found that changing these lines in the Flight Tuning section helped...
pitch_stability =1.70000 roll_stability =1.50000
elevator_trim_effectiveness =0.80000
0 clicks up trim
That is for FSX the lodestar didn't have any handling quirks in FS9

Had this problem as well.
DL'd the rev 1.2 version of the Fsx package from SOH and installed clean .air file.
Trim and vertical speed are normal, ship flies beautifully.
