Gentlemen
I noticed that in airports retrofitted by Cal Classics aircraft leave the gate or parking moving forward, (drive trough gates) without pushback, as it was then, in the sixties. In Congonhas and Galeao, etc... (my retrofits) they perform pushback, wich is funny at least. Imagine a C-46 making pushback... How can I get rid of that in my AFCADs? Also I opened AFCADS form CalClassics traffic and saw gates and parkings in many colors. What is that about? Something related to companies or aircraft assignement? I googled it and found nothing about.
Best regards
Walter

What you have seen in almost all of the CalClassic sceneries, at least those created by Tom and myself, are "terminal turn" parking spots. This is where an aircraft leaves a parking spot to taxi out by turning and moving forward, as opposed to the more modern "straight in" parking, where aircraft must be pushed back out of the spot before they can begin to taxi.
"Drive through" parking is rare and I have used it in some of my water airports. It is very difficult to accomplish these "drive through" parking spots to function correctly due to the complexity of how they must be connected to taxiways and apron routes. A "drive through" parking spot is where an aircraft enters a parking spot straight on, and departs it straight out. This is all but impossible for most people to accomplish.
An aircraft will always take the shortest route to the starting point of the active runway. AI aircraft must be tricked into "driving though" a spot by using hidden apron routes towards the starting location of any active runway. Even if you get it to work right, once the other end of the runway becomes active, your aircraft will no longer park as you intended them to.
AFCAD assigns colors to parking spots depending on what airline each spot is coded or assigned to. The radius of each spot can determine what aircraft parks there, and what doesn't. Also, whether it is a gate, parking, or ramp will determine its priority.
You won't find out much help about any of this using Google, best to read the entire help/instructions in AFCAD, as much of this is explained in great detail.

Hi, To see the assignments in AFCAD, press P until you see the airline codes listed. We use two apron route segments to generate the terminal turn (see below). The trick to avoiding pushback in FS9 is to make sure the angle between the parking spot and the far node is less than 90 degrees: For FSX it is different - it will push back the distance between the parking spot and the first node. So we place a third node in the diagram above in between the parking spot and the "Near Node", and place it right on top of the parking spot center point. Now since the distance is zero, no pushback. Hope this helps,

I did the adjustments and now the aircraft leave the parking or gate in the right direction, after a brief turn. What is happening now is that they are piling up in the runway without taking off. So far I have 3 of them in this odd situation, one inside the other. Something regarding runway properties. I cheched the nodes and are ok.
Question: if I change the wind, AI sends the flights to the right runway?

Hi,
Runway selection is based on the wind direction, yes.
The only time I have seen this is when there is no RED hold short node at the runway entrance? Note that an overrun (the yellow chevrons) is NOT considered part of the runway, and the hold short node has to be within 200 ft of the REAL runway.

I placed the missing red hold short and the planes are taking off. Thanks.
I would be happy now if you can assist me in the problem of the bgl opening to sort the buildings I need in Porto Alegre retrofitted scenery (if there is a way of doing that...)
Thanks a lot
