Hi all,
I've been moving some of my sceneries and things I am developing into my classic install of FS9, which is running all Classic AI traffic packages, quite a few of the airport sceneries, and has some classic aircraft installed. I am also in the process of following the FSAviator Propliner Tutorial.
Twice now, within minutes of loading the simulator, everything just freezes, and Task Manager reports not responding. The first time was flying Bill Lyon's Goose with the FSAviator updates around Houston Texas. The second was flying off of London Heathrow in the Goose at night.
On one of these occasions, as I waited for FS to begin responding again, it eventually crashed with an ntdll.dll error. I've looked high and low for things about NTDLL and how to fix the error and all I can find is suggesting either a full FS or a full Windows reinstall, which frankly I don't see as options.
The problem only plagues my classic FS9 install, my modern install (which is just jam packed full of addons) has no issues at all.
Can anyone help out?
Chris

I would suggest that you start by unchecking sceneries you have recently installed or moved then reload FS9 and try the same flights. I have found in the past when I have errors like that there is a scenery file causing the problem. My FS9 classic setup currently CTD's when I am approaching LFMN from the north just as I get to the mountains. Haven't yet figured out what scenery is causing it since have French military bases near and LFLY installed near this area.
If that isn't it did your recently install any programs in the Modules file, had it blow up from that once.
Good luck

Chris, I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions apart from the one Al already gave you Al, last week I ran into the same problem. Nearing Grenoble FS9 suddenly crashed. Do you have the LFLY Lyon-Bron airport scenery installed? If so, then you probably also activated a scenery called LFLY Geomodif. Deactivate that scenery and try again. If that helps we might be able to pinpoint which of the 217 bgl's is the culprit

Most of my crashes are due to mesh packages, and for someone else I know it is landclass files placed into scenery folders that also have an adjoining texture folder (does *not* have to be empty). That Geomodif package did cause a crash for me too.
Hope this helps

Thanks Bryan I will check that out as yes I have LFLY installed. I had been tracing it to one of the nearby sceneries as I can start from each LFLT or LFMN and have know problem but when I reach the same point near the north base of the mountain range, CTD happens

There are some suggestions on my site which may help: www.adventure-unlimited.org/faultfinding.phpNone of these suggest a re-install of FS or Windows. John

I had a similar problem a few years ago flying in an area of the Philippines after reinstalling FS2004 on my new computer. Once I installed the 9.1 patch the problem has never re-occurred.
Volker has a good point as well. On an earlier computer I was getting a crash after roughly an hour or so flying. Build up of dust on the fan area and CPU was the problem. After a clean and blow out all was fine.

I seem to have found the bgl's that cause the LFLY Geomodif scenery to crash FS9 (at least on my system). They're named isere_1_5 and RA_lwm_5. When I delete these two all is well. Can anyone please verify? PS Well, with the above edits I was able to start at LFLG Le Versoud but unfortunately, after a couple of miles cruising to the SE another ctd occurred... Maybe jacklyon can shed some light on this.

Chris, being a DLL file, I'd start on the Modules folder, it could be that such DLL is corrupted and in such case you should try to first drag the original DLL from the installation CD. 2 things come into my mind, it can be that such module was updated with the 9.1 patch, see if the one from the CD is dated from 2003, then ask if somebody has it with date on 2004, if the latter is present, then get that 2004 dated DLL and replace it, you shall restart your system before trying to run FS9 again. I have no sim installed, since I was never able to really fix the antialiasing problem that I have been suffering with, otherwise i'd give you the file myself.

What seems to be your problem with antialiasing? What video card are you using?

Hi Tom, same ol bloody issue that I have since last year, there is no driver or procedure that will fix it...., even tried another monitor and it seems that is not the culprit, I am very much suspecting it can be something in the OS installation, maybe even the BIOS. There is simply no Nvidia control panel setting or Inspector one that will fix the problem, no matter how high it goes 8x, 12, 16, 32.... jaggies are still there. My card is not physically damaged, checked it for any problem and nothing, could it even be the GPU BIOS needing a flash?. I am really miserable not being able to fly properly, since my simming experience goes to the litter bin considering the performance is affected a lot with the AA setting.
Greets.
Chris sorry if this hijacks your thread.

Did you try checking the Antialiasing box in FS and fly in full screen mode?

Aye, as most guide clearly state that for it to work, the AA FS menu setting must be off, yes I have tried both windowed and fullscreen. Normally I fly in windowed mode since I go on IVAO, it is been a very frustrating experience I tell you, have posted in almost every major site but nothing..
