Hi all, I have created a simple scenery for an airport missing in the trans Atlantic crossing, Prestwick in Scotland, and Mike Stevens has helped me detail it. PLEASE NOTE that this uses generic library objects for all buildings, and thus does not include a custom terminal, etc. That said, I think we got pretty close to the "feel" of the airport. The airport layout is taken from a period Jeppesen manual, and thus is close to accurate. Taken at 0905 GMT on Sunday. There is a simple MATS transit terminal on the north side of the airport, and the main road to the village to the north actually crosses the main runway. You can download it from my Scenery page. BTW, I do realize that page is getting rather long! To find airports by region there are links at the top of the page to each continent. To find a specific airport: Firefox: press the / key or Ctrl F, then type in a search phrase like prestwick Internet Explorer: press Ctrl F, then in the find box type in the search phrase Enjoy,

That screen looks great, hard to believe it's all generic library on the buildings. Thanks for the umptieth time!
Edit: downloaded the whole whopping 19 kB and installed. What a detail! Been watching a few minutes with a backtracking Warning Star vacating for an Autair Viking to depart. Next a Trans Canada DC-8 leaves the stand with exreme caution on the power, MATS Connie following from the other side for more backtracking... It's another gem I say.

Hi,
You're welcome! Glad you like it.
I have to admit it's great for AI spotting; so many unusual planes you don't often find in one place (sort of like Burbank and Oakland). It doesn't have the traffic density of the larger airports (heck, even Renfrew has more airline traffic) but like Honolulu, the addition of the MATS traffic keeps it interesting.

Hi Tom Wonderful scenery as always. Do you have any 1962 charts available?
The earliest I have is 1972-73. Am happy to upload them to my Flickr page if they can be of help for flying in and out of the airport.

Just a quick note to all - in sceneries like this one where there is only a scenery folder in the main scenery folder, and no texture folder, never, never create a folder called textures and have nothing in it. That is guaranteed to cause a memory leak and crash. There are a lot of charters, and bizarre airlines that stop at Prestwick!

Tom's 1964 Prestwick charts are already in his chart library. Thanks again Tom and thanks John for your 1970 charts.
This is a long overdue airport addition and hopefully one day we will have custom versions of the interesting old terminal, originally a 17th century mansion house, and the huge Scottish Aviation hangar, originally built 30 miles away in Glasgow as an exhibition hall for the 1938 Empire Exhibition.
Prestwick and Renfrew were my local airports in my younger days and I have fond memories as a youngster of "spotting" that great variety of visiting aircraft, not just the US military but the Viscounts, Caravelles etc making a last fuel stop on delivery flights to North America.

Glad we could help Bill. Thanks for reminding me the charts are already up. Yeah, I hope somebody does eventually do at least those two iconic buildings.

Hi all, I visited the airport Sunday. Going to catch a flight back home to the states when I looked across the runway and saw this:
must have been a training flight.
You guys did a great job thanks. Allen
