In 1974 I was working the ticket counter for Southern Airways the day before Mardi Gras. All our flights and Delta's were full from Memphis. A man and his wife practically begged if we had any seats on any flight to MSY. I told him of our once a day Martin 404 with stops at Oxford, Greenwood, Jackson, Natchez, Laurel, Hattiesburg, Pascagoula, Gulfport, and finally New Orleans. Being desperate, I was told he didn't care as long as they got there! Sorry to say, the flight was full and I got blamed.

I knew the guy who recorded that song. He had the honor of piloting the last Martin 404 flight from Memphis. This was MEM- MKL- MEM- TUP- GTR- TCL- ATL on November 30, 1977.
