I have an unusual glitch in a couple of the Asia Pacific Scenery's in FSX where the front of a couple of buildings does not appear but you get a black object, this is also extended to a hangar and a terminal in another non Cal Classic Scenery for FIJI.
That indicates to me a texture issue but I have made no changes or added no scenery files recently at all. I checked file permissions, reloaded libraries, reloaded all the scenery and texture files, some stuff came back but some objects remain stubbornly no shows. The first is the old curved style metal hangar, the next is the terminal at Nausori in Fiji. Interestingly removing and or installing the FSX only modern version of Nausori developed the same problem, the main terminal not showing but as a black object, the shapes are correct but none of these have any textures. Same problem at NFFN, AYPY, AGGH and NSFA. One or two buildings just will not show textures.
I am at a loss to know which texture has possibly become corrupted as all objects and airport layouts load fine and show properly.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I have also checked (WinMerge) by file comparison files both texture and scenery in my FSX Scenery folders with the originals held on backup, they are all identical and have no obvious errors. The Nausori object is curious because it looks like it good me an autogen object being displayed as it does not fit in with either the CalClassic objects or the Nausori for FSX. The Nandi anomaly is now restricted to some signage on the entrance not displaying and the AGGH Honiara is several objects, a hangar, the tower and a water tower which all show up as just black objects.
FWIW further investigation shows that some black objects are common, one is an old water tower and the other is a Quonset Hut/Hangar. I used the Instant Scenery lib tool to work through and identify the objects. I guess they can be redone or the textures redone to work in FSX or another object substituted. So it is not an autogen issue. Still not sure what is being diplayed at Nausori.
The reason I raise these issues is that there are recent anomalies that for some reason just started to do this and were not a problem when the scenery was first installed. Guess it maybe just one of those things.
Still any advice or tips appreciated.

Hi,
It sounds like you might have some duplicate copies of the Asia Pacific library BGL files installed into FSX, and one set of them doesn't have any textures alongside them.
Do a search in your entire FSX folder for PGUM_1962_library.bgl and see if you have more than one. This library contains the old water tower at AGGH.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Tom. No only one copy of that file, no duplicates anywhere that I can find. I can use instant scenery and pop in replacement objects for those. But I am not sure why the textures wont show, I found the objects and redid the textures into dds files but that did not help either. Just the sort of minor small anomaly that drives you nuts.

Hi,
I don't know of any other FS-related cause for an object that starts displaying with no textures (that displayed them before). I checked the package out in my copy of FSX and all textures are displaying at both airports.
Hardware related causes can include an updated video driver, an overloaded video card, an overheated video card, or even a bad video card.

Thanks Tom. Hardware is all good and I just did a run from Saigon (62) to Old Kai Tak airport in a model that is hard on the systems (early DC-8) so I get a mix of city, country, city ocean etc with real weather running for good measure. No texture anomalies at all anywhere, even the old water towers are showing fine as are all hangars etc. I even downloaded all the relevant libraries, scenery files etc, checked them and reinstalled, no problems anywhere except the couple I mentioned, guess it is just an FSX thing. On the bright side I will have to ignore them and assume there was a fire so the structures are now charred black LOL.

Tom, problem fixed. I found that for some reason, some of the Asia Pacific Scenery bgl's, some not all, had ended up in my specialised Pacific AFCAD directory for scenery files without textures, so it seems FSX was reading this directory first and hence not finding textures that go with them. Probably my error but once I had removed the duplicate or part duplicate files the problem rectified itself and all objects are showing correctly. It is one of those times I am glad I have structured my scenery into this type of directory structure because I could go to various directories and cross check them, for some reason I did not think to look in the AFCAD directory for the Pacific. Thanks for assistance and forbearance. The attachment is to show the issues for what it is worth. Attachments:
