Hi,
today I installed the scenery and made a view into it. Very nice made and gives a good backdate feeling.
But I noticed two minor things: 1. The flagpoles seem to not have the flags itself shown, no matter which time or date I select. ( only in Reykjavik, Keflavik is OK ) 2. The windsocks do look a little to big for me, maybe half the size could fit better ( or 0.7 )
Notice to point 1:
Because Iceland is in the far north, in summer it will not get really dark at night and also in winter, it will not get really bright during day, the "normal" behavior of our flags ( day/night ) would not fit in this region. Maybe the best solution would be, to make them only with winter/summer behavior without day and nighttime change.
Cheers Wolfgang

Hi,
I think Pan Am was required by US authorities to maintain a service to Keflavik for some reason, probably for the convenience of the US military. They usually had one flight a week by 1962.
I agree that large aircraft refueling was probably not that uncommon although you will find very few pictures of it, possibly due to restrictions on photography.

Hi, The windsocks are within the heights and lengths that are FAA standard for airports. I actually made the pole and the sock itself 1 meter shorter than the normal length that I use at other airports, like SFO and PDX. I think what is happening is that because the buildings are Reykjavik are so small, the windsock closest to the terminal does look big. If you get in the Cessna and look at it from ground level, it looks fine. Its an illusion. The windsock at the end of the runway is the same size but it looks shorter. I never liked the fact that MS does not reduce the diameter of the pole. No matter how short or tall, it is still so thick. As for the flags, I have many photos of Reykjavik and there is never any flags on the poles. Not even during an airshow. Not sure why but they just have the poles. Keflavik is a US Naval air station, so it will have the USA flag as does all US military bases. Here's a few old photos of Reykjavik: The old RAF tower and the fire station (Quonset hut) The Loftleidir terminal and the parts store house (bunker) The modified original Icelandair terminal with flagpoles out front, and even they don't have flags The Icelandair terminal in 1959 The Icelandair terminal area seen from the Icelandair hangar So many questions. Why so many flag poles? What kind of flags could they have put there? Only two airlines fly to Reykjavik - Loftleidir and Icelandair. Who knows?

Some great photos there Dennis of the C-47's/DC-3s had quite a few such a small place. The colour one is a gem crisp and the old Shell fueltrucks are the first time I have seen these in colour.
