I believe it is still the largest amphibious assault in history. Don’t forget the important role played by the airborne troops flown in our propliner the DC-3 (C-47 Gooney Bird).

I was at Duxford Airdrome on Tuesday and had great pleasure in watching Daks preparing for Wednesdays air drop over Normandy. The sounds - especially taxing past flight line for takeoff. I have never seen so many together and watching them flying in formation. I have loved Daks since young at LGW and watching Morton Air Services and British United flying them, later British Island Airways ! An experience to remember and not to be repeated. Gonna rain all weekend here at LGW so might have to ‘ fire up ‘ the old FS9 and do some retraining on the old girl doing circuits and bumps !! Lol.
