This has happened at another airport, but I fixed it by including the scenery for that airport, however, not so with KDTW (Detroit). THis is FSX Steam... I just landed there, and all the default buildings are gone. THe airport is there, with the runways, but no terminals, the CC aircraft are sitting out on the tarmac with nothing around them but other aircraft. So I went into the scenery library and deselected all the CC entries, then looked at KDTW again. Presto, the default buildings were there, sans aircraft. So, back into the scenery library and thinking it was an addon scenery layer problem, I selected only the necessary CC layers (landclass, 59 traffic and core). Back to Detroit and the buildings are all gone again. There isn't a CC detroit backdated version, so something is amiss. Actually, I narrowed down the culprit, it is something with the Core layer. I eliminated each (landclass, core and 59 traffic) individually and only when I had the Core active the buildings disappeared. They reappeared with the Landclass and traffic file selected.
I will redownload the CC files, in case I have a bad install of the CalClassic, but this might also be a trouble spot with FSX, as well... Any thoughts?

Hi,
Must be an FSX thing. In FS2004, there is an exclude file in the Core folder that removes the new terminal, leaving the old terminal behind. Perhaps that old terminal is no longer there in FSX, and thus all buildings are removed? I don't know why that would remove any outlying buildings though.
Do a search in the CalClassic Core/scenery folder for xkdtw. You will find one with _background (removes the default airport polygon in FS9), one with _taxi (removes the taxi signs), and one with _terminal (removes the new terminal). Try removing the last one first, and then the others if need be.
Hope this helps,

Alright, here is what I found out....
I removed all the xdtw_ files, no change, terminal still did not show up. So, on a hunch, I removed the AF2_KTDW_CA59.bgl file, and voila, the terminal showed up, and with considerably fewer classic aircraft there than there was before. At least the terminal is restored, and the airport is less busy than it was previously, some classic aircraft are there, but not many. The AF2 files is where the problem lies, and I have no idea how to edit it, but at least Detroit airport looks as it should, albeit a much quieter place.
Now, if I were to install a KDTW update addon (the kind that supposed to make the airport look more like it does today, kind of addon), and then replaced the AF2 file (so the traffic returns), do you think that would solve this problem? I guess I could try it and find out, but ad you are the guru that worked your magic to make the 1950s come alive in FS, I would like your input first....

Hi,
I don't know why the AFCAD file is causing the terminals to disappear. It would probably be best to create an ADE file of your own, based on the FSX default but with more parking, or you might be able to load the AF2 file into ADE and edit that (Open Airport from BGL). Then compile as an ADE BGL file.

Okay, half of that was pure Greek to me, lol... I will leave it as it is, a less busy airport. I don't know why, but I gravitate toward that area when I fly (Detroit, Chicago), so at least it won't remind me of my Flight Simulator II days on the Commodore 64... did I just show my age...?

Yes, just remove that BGL file and it will be fine.
