Hi, I'm looking at tweaking / refreshing the converted AI aircraft.
Having looked at the Bristol Freighter I noticed that the original model has animated crew doors and clamshell nose doors. I have managed to re-animate these in MCX so that they open when the Nav light turns on and close again when the aircraft starts to taxi.
The problem is that there is a long standing bug in FS9, FSX and P3D. If the engine type is Piston then the Nav light trigger is ignored. Lockheed Martin is aware of the issue but as you can imagine it is fairly far down their list of bug fixes.
I managed to get the Freighter working by setting the engine type to turbo prop and stealing the turboprop parameters from a Twin Otters aircraft.cfg file. However it now takes off like a rocket.
Long story short - does anyone have expertise or advise about how to tweak the turbo prop parameters to recreate the piston engine behaviour?
Thanks Gavin

For a turboprop there is only one real parameter:
[turboprop_engine] power_scalar = 1.0 //Scalar on Turboprop power maximum_torque = 1865 //Maximum torque available (ft-lbs)
Lower the maximum_torque value to lower the power produced.

I managed to mess around with the aircraft.cfg file and have something that approximates the behaviour of the original aircraft. Here is a link to the FSX version of the Bristol Freighter if anyone is interested in checking it out. FSX Bristol FreighterThere are 2 models in the zip, one (the default) has the clamshell doors open all the time until 15 minutes before pushback, at which time the clamshells close and the crew door opens. It stays open until pushback. The other model (model.closed) has the clamshell doors closed until 15 minutes before pushback, at which time both the clamshell and the crew door open and remain open until pushback. If you want to use this model you will need to edit the aircraft.cfg to select it. Please let me know if you use this and if it is worth the effort to add these features to the AI models. Gavin
