You're very welcome.
I found out why the runway was lengthened at the end of 1961 to 8,000 feet. The US was building a huge satellite spy base just outside of Alice Springs. Eventually more than 2,000 Americans would live there full time, and they needed to get heavy equipment into the airport. It was a to spy on ICBMs from the USSR and China, and at the time, Alice Springs was outside the range of ICBMs coming from either place. So it could function and track missiles should other stations get destroyed. I think it was abandoned in the early 2000s.
Also a thanks to Mat Dalton for his permission to use his Ayers Rock. I did not like the default rock that was there, so I was hunting around on Flightsim for a replacement, and after testing all of them, found his to be the most accurate. I then found out that Yulara airport didn't exist, and the old Connellan airstrip did....so I built it, thinking just for myself. Then I didn't like the huge default Alice airport. By this time I emailed him and asked him for permission to include it with my scenery and he said yes right away... Sometimes that's how these things sort of just happen, one step at a time.

Mike, I'm sorry to read about your troubles. I am perplexed by the various kinds of extreme behaviour you describe. Thankfully I see none of that in my vicinity. Surely, people sometimes do meet without a mask and not at least 5ft apart when on private grounds, but generally the rules are obeyed from what I see around me and the health and medical systems can cope here. As for the journey you took us along on, thanks again! It has been great so far and you created good content on the way (pun intended). If you really want to spoil us, perhaps consider returning home later on, via a different route. For now all the best, take care, I hope your pc will be up & running again soon and most of all you (and everyone here) stay(s) healthy! Erik
