I know that military aircraft are rather frown up here. I respect this and won't gloryfing the use of them. On the other hand its a fact that during and after World War I military aviation had immense impact of the later development of aviation in general. Manufacturer and pilots contributed to what the whole industry and airline business became later. Nevertheless these planes are meanwhile part of aviation history. And that's what I'm considering below. German airfield with Fokker Dr.1 (SIMTech package) at Bissegem Kortrijk, Belgium Sopwith Camel of Royal Flying Corps based at Calais, France 'Here we come!' 'Jawohl, wir auch!' (Yes, we too!) 'But where are the Fritz?' 'Here is one!' 'And an other just in front.' While one could escape this time: Hermann Göring. Shortly an other story which has a connection to the German 'Jagdstaffeln' (Jasta) then active in Northern France. Sometime ago I had a problem to get the Dornier Wal (see my '1934 Lufthansa' thread) up in the air as AI. I got help from Guenter Kirschstein, which name is periodically seen in forums tackling flight dynamic problems. By the way he mentioned to me that is grandfather was a German WWI pilot named Hans Kirschstein. He flew in the same squadron as the famous Manfred Baron von Richthofen. Hans Kirschstein get some 'reputation' in 1917 while he flew alone to England and bombed Dover without the permission of the division chief. At the age of 21 he crashed on a commun maintenance flight. Here a repaint of Kirschstein's Fokker DVII Bernard

Thanks aviastory, this is a great story, and some fantastic shots! How did you get the lineup of Fokkers?

The line up like a formation flight occurs while the four AI are using separate ADE. But it's more by hazard that the Fokkers still are all together. Mostly some are flying faster or slower, even with exactly same model, same flightplan and same ADE. Bernard

You keep amazing me how you get all those scenes together, Bernard. In this thread I love the Sopwith formation most, and in the Guinea Airways thread you had me look twice at least at the car loading scene. Bravo!
