The actual basically questions about the future of flight simming leave me to express my following feelings:
Finally, classic FS9 is nothing more than remembering the past, with its good and bad sides. CalCassic offers us, I say this very consciously, the unique opportunity to continue experiencing these times. No other flight simulator has ever been able to offer such an environment. And I am convinced that no other will ever make this possible.
It's not just flying there. It's also maintaining an environment that gives fun and pleasure to move in a very nicely recreated world, done with passion and devoition. And who, like most of us, can still boast of having stood on the edge of a runway and felt the deep longing for the big wide world? Such memories aren't forgottable and irreplaceable.
Thanks Tom and Steve, the genious initiants, and the numerous active members this site is the only support to keep an heroic and exciting era still running. There haven't been invested such lot of time and engagement just to neglect the tremendous work. Furthemore I think it would never be a great fun to restore the Sixties on a hyperrealistic JFK between a mash of B777, B797 and A330! And why does it always have to be absolutely perfect? Is pleasure always perfect?
BTW, in 2005 my motivation to move to CalClassic was mainly due to the fact, that I was really obset of always bringing my FS up to date with the newest aircraft and airports. Since, the Sixties still remain the Sixties!
So let's keep CalClassic alive and flying as long as we are confident and have the time and energy to do so.

Steve? Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I started CalClassic (actually the Classic Airline Page back then) for just that reason - to recreate one of the favorite times of my life, hanging on the low chain link fence at Sacramento Municipal watching the United captain start the engines of his mighty DC-7, heading for Reno or Los Angeles. Incredibly exciting to a little kid like me.

Since the conception of all flight simulators I have done them all and in my very humble view CalClassic is as good as it gets, none better.

Yesterday I completed watching the series Ice Pilots NWT on my Roku streaming device. The last episode of which originally aired in December 2014. Four or five episodes from the end a new DC-3 copilot made a bad landing and wanted to practice on the company simulator. I had seen them at the PC before practicing and wondered what program they were using. After all they are a real airline right. Well for the first time the startup splash screen was shown and low and behold the familiar FS 2004 and DC-3 were visible. Something tells me that Joe McBrian has yet to buy a new computer and MSFS to train his pilots. That DC-3 on start up is all he needs.
