This is a general question to anyone that may have the answer. According to the info posted with the Ed Akridge files here in the AI section these should work with FSX since they are "FSX Native" files. When you actually do a search for the files on Flightsim, however, they come up as P3D native, not FSX native. They even have a large note that says they are P3Dv4 only and they won't work with any other version of the sim, not even the earlier P3D versions. I was just wondering if anyone had actually tried to use these files with FSX already. Seems like a lot of dowloading just to realize they really don't work. No big deal if they don't work in FSX, I was just hoping to use these instead of the FS9 ones for the FSX setup I just reinstalled. If you've already taken the plunge please let us know! They are in FSX format (MDL file headers say MDLX, which is FSX format). The MDL names even have _X added. I don't know why Ed tells you they are only for P3Dv4, although they are the only set that will work in that sim.
BTW, there were a few errors in the conversion process, so if the blurred props don't bother you (AFAIK that's the only issue using the FS2004 models in FSX) then the FS2004 models may be a better choice. But either set work fine in FSX (I use Ed's models in FSX right now).

Thanks Tom!
I'll go and download Ed's files and go with them.
My guess is that the traffic files are the same as yours but in FSX format, correct? I know they're not the latest ones, but that's not too critical for me right now. I just want to get something "retro" in the latest FSX install, even if the airports are a bit "newer" compared to the traffic.

Hi,
Yes, the flight plan files are in FSX format. The only difference you would see with FS9 format files is that the planes would fly one day off. While AI Flight Planner can take my latest flight plan files and convert them to FSX format in a jiffy, you would then be missing some planes due to changes in the aircraft files between now and then. His files should use all his planes.
