Now *there* are simple instructions to the painters: “paint everything on this fuselage that is enclosed with blue or red with our green paint, and paint the tail white”. Nice.

I think Tom is making light of the fact that when it came time to paint over the Northwest markings and replace them with the Air Vietnam markings, they simply masked the current markings which were blue and red and painted them green. They then made life even simpler by painting the whole tail white. One or two days in the paint shop and she should have been ready to go.
