For some reason my Log Book has decided not to work. Was fine yesterday.
When I exit a message appears saying basically "logbook file ******* does not exist". This has happened before with earlier installs and I was able to fix it from a printout that I've had for a long time. I cannot get the "Reset the logbook file" instructions to read as they did, and I suspect this may be because my FlightSim computer is no longer connected to the internet. I can't even see where to reset the default game settings, something I'm reluctant to do even though I have recorded all of my settings.
What I can't work out is why it has been working fine all of this time and then decides to not work.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks John

The file LOGBOOK.LOG file usually resides in the "Flight Simulator Files" subfolder in your "My Documents" folder. If it is not there hopefully you have a backup copy. If not you should see a file named "LOGBOOK.txt" in the "Flight Simulator Files" folder. Open "LOGBOOK.txt" with Windows Explorer and Save As "LOGBOOK.LOG". That should fix your problem.

Hi Larry Thanks for your suggestion and input. With my FS Computer not being connected to the internet I can't open Windows Explorer.
I tried renaming LOGBOOK.txt to LOGBOOK.LOG without any success. Had a look at the old printout I had used to fix this problem when it arose many years ago and I noticed it is dated 2006 which was when I was using Windows XP so I can't get it to work in Windows 7.
Also had a look in my FS Backup and cannot see any reference to Logbook there.
I thought there was a file to open in the main FS9 menu where it could be fixed but maybe I'm thinking of something else.
May have to look at reconnecting my FS computer to the internet temporarily and see if that will help me get the Logbook working again.
Again, appreciate your help.
John

Again, thank you to all for you help. I did finally solve the problem. Had trouble at first as I was doing something incorrectly (with me, what else is new), but once the penny dropped the old instructions I had printed out all those years ago worked in Windows7. Hopefully it would be the same with Windows10. This is only the third time I've had this happen so it is quite a rare problem. If anyone else has had this happen below is the instructions I used. They may be of some assistance. John
