Hi all, Most of you already know that Chris Helton has created some very nice terminal buildings for London Airport (renamed Heathrow in 1966). Bill Douglas and I have taken Chris' buildings and added a lot more, to create what I think is a very nice airport. It should be ready within a couple of weeks, we hope. The Queens Building (right) and the Europa Terminal (left) at London Central, with the tower building behind. The Europa Terminal was for European and domestic flights, while the Queens building had a theatre, restaurants, shops, and a rooftop garden. The recently opened Oceanic terminal, for international flights. And finally the maintenance area, with BOAC hangars in the foreground and BEA hangars behind. The old RAF style hangars above the BOAC hangars were part of the original airport, and were used by BOAC, Cunard Eagle, and independent airlines. There's a lot more to see, but we'll keep some things for you to find.

Hi Tom,
Fantastic news! Will this be compatible with both FS2004 and FSX?
Regards, Phil

And I should add that Ken Lawson (the fourth author) has added so much to the airport, since he has supplied buildings like the North Terminal, the original BEA Hangar #1, and numerous sheds and hangars from his wonderful 1953 scenery. Here is his North Terminal in 1962, used for VIP parking as well as a cargo area: Thanks!

I now have the airport working in FSX. Replacement ADE files will be packed in the release.
It will have the typical FSX issue with transparent railings and fences (the objects behind it will disappear), but that is quite minor at this airport.

For the FSX version I decided to convert the building library to FSX format, so the transparencies will no longer be a problem.

Incredible detail. Am glad it has the North Terminal which I like to use for myself. Prior to this I've always used the North Terminal in Ken's 1953 Heathrow so depending which aircraft I am flying will switch between the two.

You'll find the north side a bit quiet John as scheduled international services stopped using it in 1960. Cargo and VIP by 1962. But there's plenty of spare parking for you!

Glad you like it. Here's another view of Chris' central area, and the view from the control tower deck, Bill

The new Heathrow scenery is fantastic! I notice that the vehicles in the parking lots are flat representations. I thought I had all the static object files i needed. am I missing something?

No, they are flat to keep the frame rates up. They are the same in the picture above.
