Hello fellow Sim-Aviators!
... to this!
Racer #5 "Voodoo" - Record Breaker
It was in 2019 when this white scheme was applied. The goal was to break the World Speed Record for Piston Powered Aircraft. "Voodoo" once again succeeded, reaching a Speed of 531,53 Miles per hour! It then was transfered to Chino Airport, California, where it became part of the Planes of Fame Collection. After setting the Record it was retired and was never flown again
Racer #7 "Strega"
Yet another successful member of famous Reno Racers. It battled the "Voodoo" for Victories in the Unlimited Class, resulting in one of the closest Photo-Finishes in Reno Racing History. Like its old opponent, the "Strega" was retired to also become a "Plane of Fame" at Chino Airport
Racer #9: "Maytag Mustang"
Seen here in its Chocolate-Brown scheme from 1966, the Plane was owned by David Maytag and flown by Wayne Adams. Although a participant in different Gold Races in the Unlimited Class, the "Maytag Mustang" was not able to win one of those, it even failed finishing some of those due to Enginine issues. It found a tragic end, when it was owned by James Barkley in 1979. It crashed after the Rudder fluttered and finally seperated from the Aircraft in Flight on 21 August that year resulting in a total loss of the Airframe. The Alan Preston Air Racing Team kept the Paperwork and registration N332 to restore and race another Racer: The "Stiletto", wich also became a part of the Restoration Project leading to the P-51D "Diamond Back" wich is still flying today
Racer #11: "Miss America"
This is one of the many Mustangs flying today wich actually saw service in WWII. Built in 1945 it began its Air Racing Career in 1963, carrying #19 that days. This Paint scheme was designed by no one else but Gene Roddenberry, who created the "Star Trek"-Universe. But she was not named "Miss America", Racer #11, before 1969. She is still competing in the Reno Air Races to these days
Plane #47: "Ole Yeller"
If you should know anything about the Air Racing History in Reno and allthough this is not a Racer, this yellow bird should be no stranger to you. The "Ole Yeller", flown by Bob Hoover, was THE Pace and Safety Plane for 35 years! She also performed on many Airshows across the country. She is now based at Legacy Of Flight Museum, Rexburg, Idaho, USA

Coach Harry
Today I´d like to show you some of the most famous Reno-Racers, based on the North American Mustang. The Screens were made in FSX, using different models created by Warbirdsim. All these Planes took part in these spectacular Air-Races in the Unlimited Class, as they returned back to Reno Airport every year, putting temporary life into that sleepy place. Some models are quite not correct, my excuses for that. Well... let´s get started:
Racer #0: "Wee Willy II "
This one showed up in the Unlimited Races in the Season of 2019. Allthough chanceless against the mighty Sea Fury, it was a nice-to-see addition to the participants. The Original Plane is part of the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California, USA

Racer #2: "Goldfinger"
This particullar Plane is relatively new to the "Flying Circus" of Air Racers. It first appeared in the 2018 Season, flashing the Spectators with its glossy, shiny appereance

Racer #5: "Voodoo"
The "Voodoo" is not only well known for its succeses in winning Unlimited Races, it simply was a true Eyecatcher being one of the most colourful Planes on the Scene. The scheme changed throughout the years, here it is seen with its Purple-Green with its bottom in Yellow. This Plane also suvived, changing the look dramatically...

Racer #9: "Cloud Dancer"
Purchased 1974 by Jimmy Leeward the "Cloud Dancer" became a familiar sight at those days in September in Reno, winnig Silver and even Gold Races. The Airplane survived, now wearing the colours of "Blood Brother", PZ-P, registered still as N55JL Sadly Jimmy Leeward did not. He lost his life during a Race flying the "Galloping Ghost", when the Plane crashed near the Audiance caused by a loss of an Aileron Trim
