Have been trying to find a Trans-Texas CV600 for 1960's AI use in FS2004. Have found textures for both the Texas International paint schemes but the only Trans-Texas Convair textures I can find are for the CalClassic CV240. This I have started using as a compromise in the absence of anything else. Only problem is changing the piston sound to a turboprop sound. This I foolishly thought was easy - go into the [GeneralEngineData] section in the aircraft.cfg file, change the engine_type= from 0 to 5 and yes, turboprop sound! Aircraft still taxies on to the runway but then just sits there. Changing the engine_type= back to 0 for piston sound and it will successfully take off and land as an AI aircraft. Have changed this back and forth 3 times now and each time the piston version works and the turbo version doesn't.
Any suggestions? Is there something else I need to play with in the aircraft.cfg? Or abandon this approach and repaint an existing CV600. Which with my limited painting skills will take me AGES!

Use the cfg file for the CV 580 instead?

Thanks Tom. Not smart enough to think of doing that. It works!
