I'd like to add this gauge to some of my classic aircraft. As I'd like to fly a little more realistically being aware of engine limitations etc. Adding it to various Constellation models, DC-4/6/7 etc.
Has anybody got any tips on how to do this? I'm not so crash hot with fiddling around with this kind of stuff.
All help greatly appreciated.

No problem. I have it with that freeware DC-3 that had it installed already in the download. I wanted to try in on the Connies etc and make my flying a little more realistic as regards to engine damage etc from not adhering to power settings. Like take-off power time limits, CHT temps etc etc.
I'll check it out again and maybe I can figure it out. Maybe.

As for the Connie Team aircraft, the L-1049, at least, has a damage module built in. Lower the flaps above the correct speed and bad things happen, while if throttle and rpm settings are too high the digits in the engine information gauge turn a different colour as a warning and (I assume, never having let it develop) bad things then happen. I haven't checked the manual but some of this is almost certainly described there.

""""I have it with that freeware DC-3 that had it installed already in the download""" Where can i find that DC3? connieguy: That also happens with the L-749. If the landing gear is pumped out above 152 knots, the hydraulic system will fail. The latter can be reset by pressing the % key in the status panel. Real engine, however, goes further than that, an engine may fail, or the landing gear will no longer be pumped out. Best reagards, Frank

""""I have it with that freeware DC-3 that had it installed already in the download""" Where can i find that DC3? Actually I don't think it DID have it installed that I can recall. I'll have to search through some old files. It used the V1.1 from here : dc3airways.net/our_fleet/real_engine.htmI think I may mav installed that one. But I cant be certain. But it is much more fun to use as you really need to watch all the limitations. Which is what I'd love to have installed for the Connies etc from here. One can fly the Connies in ISA+20, close all cowl flaps and run it wide open at Take-Off power all day and it will never falter. It would be nice to get penalized for running past the limits.

I just installed it into the MAAM DC-3 and the install was pretty straight forward. Just follow the enclosed instructions. I don't know that it will or won't work with the Connie, you would need to contact the author for that answer. His contact info is in the README.

Not as hard as I thought. Haven't had a chance to test it yet though. The only problem I see is that I can't bring up the panels except though the alt > Views > Instrument Panel option. Which is annoying because it pauses the sim of course while I do that. Not sure how else other then to replace the control wheel, Fuel dump and GPS windows with the RealEngine mini panels. But if anyone else has suggestions how to make the panels show rather than go through the alt menu, that would be appreciated. Also the temps are in F. Is there a way to change them to C to match the CHT/OIL gauges in C? EDIT2 : There is a text to replace F with C and visa versa. I gotta learn to read all the instructions. LOL. EDIT : BOOM! Take off power past the 5 min limit. No more engines. WOOOHOOO!! Respect the limits or she's a cactus. I love it! Actually, it is VERY easy to install and being able to adjust the limits etc in the sim is SOOOO much easier. This is fantastic!

Glad you got it working. I don't know of a way to bring up subpanels beyond Shift 9, except to create simicons on the panel to make them appear. It's not hard.

Cool, l'll have to figure out how to do that. Bringing up the main limitations gauge and leaving it to the side of the 2D panel works for now. Its not really intrusive. And I COULDN'T figure out how to change the gauge display from F to C. Got ahead of myself there. Either way, its more enjoyable as its a little more challenging to fly now.

There is a section in the instructions on adding a simicon. It is "Step 7" in the "Install for DC3.txt".

There is a section in the instructions on adding a simicon. It is "Step 7" in the "Install for DC3.txt". Thats only for the DC-3 using V1.1. I'm using V1.4 in the Connie. I've never added a simicon before.

The method is the same for any plane. Only the details change.
