Hi there I'm thinking of creating, or at least attempting to create some vintage scenery for MSFS 2020, inspired by PMDG's excellent new DC6. I'm probably going to start with CYQX, but any general recommendations are welcome. Can anyone recommend resources I (or others) can use to create these? Specifically, photos and charts of the airport so I can see how it was laid out at the time, or written information with things like runway headings and lengths, descriptions of aprons and so on. Resources I am currently aware of: jwhshd on flickr has an absurdly large collection of images and charts from around 1945-1960, as many of you will be aware There is a collection of charts available on this website, and of course the sceneries themselves can be used as a resource

If you pull this off it will breath new life into the Calclassic world. I was pretty sure we would live in the FS9 world until we were to old and feeble to carry on. Good luck!

It would certainly be a feat if you could make it happen. It might, just might, usher in a whole new generation into the joys of flying in the classic era. Good luck and please do update us on with whether or not it's feasible. Then again, that will raise the specter of AI, but one step at a time.
Regards, Phil

I just hope that CalClassic wpn't already be neglected and finally suffer the same fate as Golden Wings, for example.

Well, I can guarantee that will be happening at some point. I will not live forever and I assume no one wants to take on the site duties and cost. The forum will remain, though. I would suggest that people get what they need from the site as it becomes available, and not assume it will be here forever. It won't.
That said I'm currently in good health and do not plan on the site going away. However, I do not have a Win 10 gaming computer and thus will not be supporting FS2020 myself.

Thanks Tom,
We all are fully aware that this site won't exist for eternity. However, we strongly hope that you will remain in good health and condition and this for a longer while. I'm not the youngest neither!
That's why it seems important that we still contribute as much as possible to this outstanding site and conserve your and Mike's great achivements! What you built up over the past fifteen years is also a remarkable tribute to the glory days of aviation and its famous contributors. We shouldn't forget that.
Neither FSX, nor P3D or X-Plane offer a such a large diversity of classic planes and airport sceneries. So I doubt that any new sims would be able to reproduce the Classic world and era as you did. And would the next generation still be interested?
In a way is CalClassic comparable with Combat Flight Simulator 2. I'm not sure, whether those users would like to fly with their Spitfire's and Messerschmidt's over a hyper realistic London scenery.
But finally everyone should and will decide and use what is right for them.
