Well London Luton (EGGW) has never had airbridges. Open air boarding by steps front and back still, even with 18 million passengers per year (pre-Covid). Nowhere to wave goodbye from though.

Just arrived back from Malta yesterday and not an air bridge to be seen there.
Noted, incidentally, that both Luton and Malta have long runways, parts of which are only used for landings and parts only for take-offs owing to lack of parallel taxiways for the whole length. A clever and efficient use which saves excessive taxying.
