I would like to ask now that the "Notepad Reset" function of the FILTER switch be removed, and the switch be reverted to having no function. You appear to have fixed the problem with the "quick total," and now it's possible to completely reset the notepad without this fictitious switch function. I propose we try and keep the electronics authentic given that the original process now works correctly.
Or else, how about create an invisible reset click spot at the top of the notepad? But really, since this bug is fixed that isn't really needed either.
EDIT: I'm actually okay with the 10usec (or any) reading going red due to movement. I think it helps to reinforce the idea that the measurement WAS valid when you took it, but that time has passed and now the position plotted will be behind the aircraft. The green just tells me "yeah, you got it right."
And yeah when the display was moving quickly, I performed the measurement in reverse order. That was a technique I discovered during flight.

Thanks for the input! I don't see that using a dummy switch for another purpose is any worse than having an invisible click spot? And the data going red with movement is not realistic - the real navigator doesn't have a signal that his data is now invalid vs his current position. Of course he knows this, but accepts the error. And he just writes down the numbers on a pad, and doesn't go back and change them - he knows it will be giving his plane's position from a short time ago. And if you perform the measurement in reverse order it will work exactly the same as it used to, since the "fix" only occurs when you enter a correct SS5 value. Things keep moving until you enter a correct value there. It can be tricky, however, since you are supposed to subtract the previous SS values as part of the calculation. But we all like a challenge, right? And I'll look into your Total click issue, I haven't looked at that in a while. But I think the very latest version I just uploaded this very minute (also called Beta 1e) may fix that problem for you, I made the data entry more robust.

I don't see that using a dummy switch for another purpose is any worse than having an invisible click spot? I'd certainly be open to suggestions from other users of course. My logic for placing the click spot at the top of the notepad is to immitate the navigator tearing off the sheet of paper (in frustration) - crumpling it up - and throwing it in the trash. Revealing a new pad below. The filter switch, to my understanding, has something to do with the received signal, not it's measurement. EDIT: To reiterate, my preference is for both of these to be removed, as your fix made them both redundant.

I have had several requests for something to clear the entire notepad, to avoid confusion and potentially incorrect results if you fail to do both sides.

Has anyone found a LORAN chart that includes the US west coast? If so, please let me know where it is. Thanks!

I saw that one but unfortunately it does not include the LORAN stations on the west coast, only the Hawaiian stations. I'm looking for the LOP lines for the stations on the west coast of the US. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

That's the one I was looking for, thanks so much! I was scanning the threads for a link and thus missed your post. I knew I had seen it! The 1965 version has all the stations we need from the 1954 coverage map we are using as a reference point, albeit with quite a few changed station pair designations. But the LOP lines always stayed the same, as long as the stations themselves didn't move.

Looks like the one in my back yard, San Mateo Point, didn't go into service until 1963, quite late. Too late for us...

Hi all,
Well, here I am again. While making the data entry more robust, I included code that would compensate if the user forgot to click or press ENTER after typing in the number. So while testing the gauge I would just skip that step, and it was very handy. So I wondered if I could get rid of the click/ENTER step before typing a number, and it turns out I can. So Beta 1g includes the new user interface - no click/ENTER required (in fact they are totally ignored).
The process:
1. Set up the station pair in SS 1,2,3, and 4 2. Throw knob to SS5 3. Enter numbers 4. Throw knob to SS6 5. Enter numbers 6. Throw knob to SS7 7. Enter numbers 8. Switch to the other station pair 9. Repeat steps 1 to 7.
Also, if you are typing over an existing number, move the SS knob to the desired SS setting and just start typing. The existing number will be removed.
Some station data has also been made to more closely align with the charts we have available, so that meant that the tutorial had to change to the new delay numbers and the new user interface. This tweaking of the station data is an ongoing process and not yet completed (and some will wait until we find charts of the area).
Finally, to test stations using a different Channel, I've coded the west coast of North America, stations 2H2 through 2H5. So those should be usable too.
Once we get the gauge in shape we can start the second part of the process, adding all of the stations to the code.
Thanks,

Is anyone else other than Ken and Bill testing this last version? If not, I will assume it is a release candidate since they gave it the OK.
