What could possibly have arisen from my own imagination was apparently seriously considered and, in any case, depicted several times: the docking of an airship at the Empire State Building. I recreated it as an AI flight with the airship 'Shenendoah'. at Lakehurst approaching Manhattan docked at Empire State Building Bernard

Hi,
the visitor's center of the Empire State Building was actually planned as a Customs and Immigration office when airship would dock.
But docking airship at a high mast is tricky and the airship has to be constantly 'flown' while attached to the mast. In New York, it is particularly tricky due to the wind collecting in the canyon of the streets and crating forceful updrafts along the buildings. Ther had been some attempts to dock, but as far as I know, only once a blimp briefly connected to the Empire State Building and it was never attempted aterwards any more. For good reason, one thinks.
But it would indeed habe been a prime spot to arrive at in New York.
The poor chaps who only had Concorde available had to take the long ride from Long Island before they would arrive inManhatten, this would take them right where the action is.
But myson has seen this and now wants to give it a try as well...
Best regards, Volker

Hi Volker,
Thanks for your additonal and interesting comments. I'm not surprised that it hasn't been successfull. For me it was just a challenge to realize this kind of docking.
Nice to see you in this forum again. We and FS9 owe you a lot. Thanks for that too!
