Also believe or not, there is WWII sub memorial in the center of the country in WI. The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc WI. www.wisconsinmaritime.org/ In Manitowoc they made subs, & minesweepers, plus a couple of PT boats. I also had rare thing happen when was I there in late July one year, I was standing on the teakwood deck of USS Cobia and heard a rumble in the sky, and looked-up thw Historic Warbirds from the EAA Fly-in were flying over coming in off Lake Michigan. Talk about being in a time warp, all that was missing was some old Chevs, Packards, or Fords.

I believe that Little Rock Arkansas has a WWII Sub set up as a musuem too. But, for a really neat experience, if you get up to Chicago, check out the U-505 there. I believe it's the only wartime German U-boat still in existence.

The Chicago Museum of Science & Industry is a must see. www.msichicago.org/whats-here/exhibits/The working coal mine, the Apollo Capsule, Super HO Train layout, The Aircraft Carrier Mock-up, the 727 fuselage hanging from the ceiling, & of course the Original CB&Q Zyphers as you come in from the parking lot. It is a great place.
