I had been in touch with Mr. Bigard some time back when I wanted permission to release the Lake Central repaints of the Nord 262. He not only gave his permission but offered assistance with the texture mapping and so forth.
I would contact him, I'll bet he's be willing to grant permission or even assist with an upgrade to the FDE.

That would great, I"ve checked out the forum but it is all in French and mine is very poor and trying to contact him would be an effort in futility.

Hello from France, You can simply register on the forum, here: www.libertysim.net/forum/ucp.php?mode=register&sid=f0fe0d0eec0bcff7e6881b9b2b2ed0e0A good translation of the First question on the first screen to register is "are you born before the 17 may 1996 or are you born after the 17 may 1996". Just click and then the second screen appears: Choose "j'accepte ces conditions", and fill the formular... When the formular is OK, choose "envoyer". You can leave a PM in English ( uh, in American ... ) to Barney. Unlike me, Barbey Bigard "practice" perfectly the language of Shakespeare ...

Earlier in this thread I said "with the lack of any detailed info regarding throttle/prop settings and climb/descent rate" but I'm surprised nobody picked me up on this as there is some quite detailed information in the "kneeboard" files, specifically in the file B2ponts_ref.htm if you prefer to look at it independently.
With this, and the re-kindled interest brought about by this thread, I decided to do a flight with this aircraft to see how near my suggested changes were. Only now have I had the opportunity. If anything, I suspect I have damped things a bit excessively - the climb rate/speed was just about OK (150-160 KIAS, 400-500 fpm) but it needed constant attention to settings, especially flying with manual mixture control. I was only flying with about 30% fuel for a two hour flight Algiers to Carthage but I think with full tanks the climb could be a bit of a struggle. Cruise seemed about as suggested (and the plane was level!) but descent was a little fast and easy. Interestingly, it is suggested that descent is made at VNO and this would require a very shallow descent so as to not run away speed-wise.
I shall probably stick with these settings but obviously they are not set in stone and anybody else having a tinker can tweak them to their needs. I would emphasise that they are nothing more than a bodge to (as they say) improve the experience.
I do hope communications are established with the developers, although the need to upload elsewhere in place of AVSIM may now be diminishing. Don't forget the lovely Air Algerie repaint too!
Best wishes,
John

Hi,
thanks John. Also of interest would be the changes FSAviator made to the FD for his private use. To discuss them is not forbidden or ?
Best Regards Wolfgang

It says that files cannot be posted online, so I don't know how you would distribute the changes, other than by private email.

Hi Bronicadve,
it would be great you get permission for FsAviatior to post his replacement FDE as a separate file.
Best regards, Volker

I think we would all be interested in them, but as I understand it he considers himself prevented by the copyright restrictions that have been placed by the author so the only way to achieve this will be to make contact with M Bigard through the French forum as suggested and get permission to do so.
On a different tack, does anybody know what the Deux Ponts sounded like and possibly recommend a sound set?
John

I believe the Convairs and DC-6 used the same engine. There are some good sound sets over @ Flightsim for the DC-6.
On another note I will attempt to contact Barney Bigard today and see what we can do.

I have just sent an email to the author and ask if he had an alternate FDE or if he doesn't whether he would give FsAviator permission to share his.
