That was a great bird. Looks fast even sitting on the ground.
The guys who flew those planes, had quite a ride. The guys in the back unfortunately did not get to see much as they had only little portholes to look out. Also you had to be real careful about getting fat, as the crews has very strict height & weight requirement to fit into the "Safety Capsules" for ejection. They had a short life due fuel back @1960's prices, imagine the howling from Washington if they were still flying today. The people @ Convair were all about speed, not fuel economy. i.e.:CV880's & CV990's.
