Hi everyone: I am attempting to make the original L049A more FSX compatible and more ala...L1649/L1049A by adding the vc and the views. Unfortunately I have been unable to do so.
All I have managed to do is to get the 2D panel up, no vc panel. And No.1 & No.4 engines are dead, they try to start (Ctrl+E) but die inmediately after release. I'm simply trying this to add the Avianca texture of the L049 to my fleet.
After 2 days of trying I'm wondering if it's at all possible to amend? can any one advice?
Much appreciated: Bernardo

In a word no. The model in this case does not have any provision at all for the VC....so the sim doesn't know where to draw anything that may be coded in the panel.cfg.
The only way to do this would be if you had the original 3D model code and then added the required modeling of the interior space.

And the 3D model code (i.e. GMAX file) has been lost...

I'll dump my little proyect. I thought it was possible? dreams are for free,no? Is there, does it exist? an AVIANCA texture for the L1049 or even the L-1649'S? Or did AVIANCA only used L049A'S; You see my mom use to be a stewardess in these AVIANCA CONSTELLATIONS. And when I was a kid we use to be taken on vacations to the caribeean on these fantastic planes; That why I want to include one on my fleet. I Know J.Howard passed away some years ago and the file was left around in the net where who ever could put their hands on it could use it.The good folks at com-central.net have it in many versions, there I found the AVIANCA texture...And ever since The advent of the starliner I have wondered if it weren't possible to incorporate these changes to the L049 Constellation? Ravilamir, I guess I could but I'm stuck with FSX and i find it difficult now after all the fixings and updates to go back, besides I don't have enough juice in my rig to run both; I barely manage to run FSX.

HD space is cheap these days ... so if your PC can run FSX relatively good it would scream in FS9. Of course without some of the nice visual effects.
I have both and would not delete either at this point....but if I could have only one sim it would still be FS9 for me.
But I think the 049 simply did not have a VC model period....so even if you switched you still would not have a VC there.
I think you are better off asking one of the paint-gun greats around here if they would be willing to do the AVIANCA paint for the L-1049.
It is a really good looking paintjob....and maybe you could help out with some of the research for clear pictures.

Hi Tom: ;D Thanks for the pictures of the AVIANCA Constellations.
Stefan: thanks for your advice too, I have excellent performance in FSX as is, wouldn't like to get less better performance because of using what I have left in Fs9, Besides I don't think I can handle both of them on my plate at the same time. As is my dual core is 1.8 Ghz-1.79 Ghz, but now it says 1.8Ghz-1 Ghz.with all my addons installed. I'm not very good with computers, mind you.I've learned the little I know with FSX and by tuning it.And that's not really the computer but the game itself. As regards contacting one of the great repaint gurus here; Who do you suggest/advice I can contact?

Try using FSX FPS guide by Ryan Maziarz. It tells you how to peak out your performance.

Hi Bernardo,
Installing a second sim on the PC will not make any difference to how the first one runs at all. You do not start them at the same time. So it's only another program on the Harddrive.
I am sure you have some sort of Office Suite with word processor and spreadsheet programs. IF they don't run they don't do anything to your existing FS....but if you start them all up and then start the sim you may see a loss in FPS.
An installation of FS9 would be the same thing.
As for who might be available to do a repaint for AVIANCA....I would start with the great folks that have done all these great reapints of the L-1049 so far.
They may have other projects already .... but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Hi, Bernardo, John (Howard White) really wanted to get the VC built, but unfortunately, the years caught up with him. He passed away before it could be completed. (God rest and keep him.) As to the FS9/FSX debate, when my copy of Windows XP Pro gets here, I'll give FSX a shot, but I don't think it will run very well on my antique. As to FSX in particular, I'm not going to live long enough to make the "world" (the era) I want to fly in all over again. Since most of what we have won't transfer to FSX, I'll be using FS9 almost exclusively. Yours,

Randy:
I recall visiting FSDzings.com every evening to check out the progress of the 3D cockpit, they were well on theire way when John passed away.
I'll consider in the next days an Fs9 install...Will report...Thanks.
